96 Integra Will Not Start. Battery is 1yr Old.

It happened out of the blue with no prior symptoms. Left the car parked for a few days, and came to move it. But it will not start. No engine crank and no clicking sounds. Car alarm, power windows, radio, and dashboard has no power. Hook up the battery to another car battery to jumpstart to no avail. Engine will not crank. But then car alarm, power windows, radio and dashboard power returns when it's hooked to another car battery.

So it seems like the battery is fine. It looks like maybe power isn't going in to crank the engine? Is it a starter problem? Or others?

Appreciate some input. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thanks for the input guys. Will definitely check these points out.

Do a few taps on the starter with something metal then see if it tries to turn over. It could be battery related but if that's the case I'd bet you'd have something going on with your charging system (like really bad grounds or terminal connections), or your alternator has murdered your battery.

I wouldn’t be concerned with issues with the starter. Because if you had no power to any of your other electronics then you clearly have an electrical issue. Could possible be a ground issue or the battery could’ve failed. If you have a parts store near you then I’d pull the battery and take it to them if they do testing. If the voltage is too low they won’t be able to tell if it’s good or bad, but Autozone will charge it for you for free and then it can be tested if it takes a charge. At least then you can check the battery off the list of possible causes.

Bang on the starter and have someone crank it while your banging on it. If it starts up it's your starter. GL

I had this happen in my teg, it was the lock cylinder. Contact broken open. Check the connections to make sure all the circuits are properly working.

If the car is automatic, and other electrical things work, try starting in neutral, or move the shifter around and try in park and/neutral. There's a safety switch that prevents the car from starting in gear, sometimes these get wonky.

Wait, he gets accessories to turn on when connected to another car with jumper cables and thinks his battery is good?

Please OP, get a multimeter and or someone with one who knows how to use it and follow these instructions. I’d be very curious what voltage your battery has sitting there Not connected to another vehicle.

9 times out of 10 if it doesn’t crank when you turn the key, it’s the starter. Don’t even bother taking the starter into advance or auto zone. I’ve had so many tested and they always say yeah it’s good, but when I buy a new one and put it in, my problem is solved. 100% positive the battery is not the issue here if you ruled out loose connections. Banging on it doesn’t always work btw^
