"Please Read Me"
I wrote this for a poetry class prompt where I'm suppose to write a letter from a part of my body (my chronic pain) to me. It doesn't feel quite right yet.
"Please Read Me"
My Love,
I wake you in the early morning
reminding you I will always
be here spooning you,
Why do you hate me?
You are my whole world
and I am your whole body,
nothing but burdensome pain
chronically tearing you down
leaving you silently screaming
when I just want to remind you
I'm here.
Honey,
Why are you always crying?
My presence isn't a plague.
Why my love?
I just want to love you
I just want to be with you
Companionship was my gift
and you returned it with loneliness.
My Love,
Why is your doctor
forcing her needle into me?
Why does she keep touching me?
Tell her we're monogamous
the headaches can take a hike,
Why are you turning on me?
Why can't I have a home.
Why do you hate me
When all I do is Love you?
Why?
I just trying to understand.
