White Noise
I woke up this morning and stepped on the scale,
“you’re fat!” he yelled at me,
Plunging my confidence down the toilet
[I hear mumbling in the background]
I went to the park for a run soon after,
“you’re too slow” said the trees,
There goes my self-esteem again
[that noise! Where is it coming from?]
Went to work a little later, I sit at my dusty desk
“you’re stuck with me forever” laughed the computer in front of me,
Digging me deeper into my woes
[the white noise still there, I choose to ignore it]
Back at home later that evening, my husband is talking to me
[baby you look beautiful],
Is what I think he said
But its hard to hear
When the mirror behind him is shouting in my ear
Telling me that I’m ugly.
