Detailed Stats for Some of the Changes from the Update

Discussion

So I decided to test out the changes for myself for the nerfs to the ar's as well as the lmg's, along with the ads nerf for the pistols. Here's what I got:

Assault Rifles: Prenerf Aim Down Sights (Ads) Speed: .275ish (frame rounding could make it vary a little)

Postnerf Ads Speed: .3

Prenerf Quickdraw Ads Speed: .233

Postnerf Quickdraw Ads Speed: .25 -.267 (a frame or two slower on 60 fps)

Maddox with quickdraw 1 and 2: This was untouched, its still .15, which means it was sort of buffed in comparison to the other ar's .

ICR Headshot nerf: The ICR now takes 4 Headshots instead of just 1 headshot to 4 shot kill within its 50 meter range (it does 38 damage with headshots instead of 40)

Vapr Headshot nerf: The vapr can no longer get a 4 shot kill, even with 4 headshots (37 headshot damage), unless you use high caliber

.

LMG's:

Titan: It now takes 3 headshots to get a 3 shot kill (50 damage per headshot), previously it took 2 I believe

VKM: The vkm can no longer 3 shot kill armor users (without high caliber), as it does 54 damage to the body

.

Pistol Nerf: Ads speed got nerfed from .10 to .15, atleast for the strife (didnt test the others)

.

Observations:

The ar's now have the same ads speed as the tactical rifles, and the lmg's ads only one frame (.0167) slower than that. The tactical rifles and the lmg's got a pseudo buff due to this. To put things in perspective, the smg's have ads speeds from around .2 to .25.

The maddox is still extremely strong and quickdraw 1 and 2 is even more of a crutch attachment on it.

Im not sure how quickdraw affects the pistols, didnt test it.

Good shit man thanks for writing up. So Maddox it is for now at least I guess.

In competitive, where rapid fire and high cal are banned, the maddox is gonna be the best gun Im pretty sure.

In pubs its gonna be a top tier gun, and the auger/swordfish are gonna be really good as well due to the ar ads nerf. The lmg's are still pretty strong also.

So are SMGs still trash? Also thanks for this, really informative.

I didnt test them, but unless the cordite/mx9 got a big range buff I think the smg's overall are still gonna be weak. They need a headshot multiplier buff possibly.

Yeah reading the patch notes it seemed like their range increase wouldn't help their cause much. Thanks for the input.

After trying the cordite (got like 50 headshots, so used it for a while) today, I can say I'm whelmed. It still isn't as good up close as it should be. The range, though, is noticeably better. I got a few surprising mid-range kills with it, however that was mostly due to my opponents being potatoes moreso than the cordite actually being good. I'd imagine, at least for the cordite, that it won't be "competitive" until it gets a 5 shot range. As for now, you can get outgunned pretty consistently vs the Maddox & vapr, which sort of makes it feel pointless.

I used it too, you have to run laser sight on it imo. Its ads and sprintout times are too slow also. The issue with smg's is you have to get close to the enemy team to use them but due to the high ttk you can't take out multiple opponents very easily

Didn't the VKM always 4 shot armor? It did 62 damage I think, so three bullets would do 186, short of the 187.5 from full HP + armor. Wonder if high cal headshots still do >75 to two hit kill. Also wonder how much they reduced the firing move speed, because it was the outright best weapon for pubs before the patch IMO.

I appreciate this.

How much was the nerf to the VAPR's range? Also how much was suppressor nerfed?

3
dtg99•

The Titan never had the ability to kill in 2 shots.

2
llPerplexionOP•

2 headshots to 3 shot.

6
dtg99•

It previously took 3 headshots to 3 shot someone with the Titan. Post nerf that remains unchanged.

2
llPerplexionOP•

No I just checked, it did 59 headshot damage prepatch. Thats a 2 shot headshot one body shot 3sk.

Great post, thanks for the effort.......I do disagree with one thing though,

In competitive this may be the only ar we see from now on.

For the roll that ars play in competitive, I think the icr will most likely be the go to AR, the pros tend to favor long range effectiveness over close range with the anchor roll, like how they used the m8 over the hvk (high fire rate close range ar) in blops3 or the fg42 (pre nerf) over the bar in wwii

Ive been following the comp scene recently for bo4, the 3 guns that were used were the icr, maddox, and saug. With this nerf to the icr the maddox just becomes too strong for most roles.

Itll probably still be used, but for mid range to short range engagements the maddox would be favored

It’ll be interesting to see how the roles work with the change to 5v5, but I have a feeling there will be at least 1 icr on every team in every game, unless the icr player is using a sniper. Probably will also be a lot of Maddox, but it’ll be the flex guy rather than the anchor

llPerplexionOP•

Yea that makes sense. Hopefully they unban rapid fire in competitive play so the kn/vapr and some of the subs may become viable.

And now everyone uses the saug... The cycle continues.

So is High Caliber pretty much useless now on all guns? I'm excited to try out the buffed MX9 range (pc player, have to wait til tmrw :\) but it seems like i'd be better off taking a perk instead of high caliber

Zephyr_67•

In the update post all the gun changes are under mp and none are under blackout. Do all the changes to the guns only affect mp, or bo too?

1
llPerplexionOP•

Idk, probably just mp

Was the strobe light distance needed yet?

1
damaged_goods420•

Not yet, and in addition they 100% stealth nerfed the strobe on console to barely mess with aim assist at all, so it's just really bright.

2
TennoInformant110•

Ah, so is it worth using still on console? Or would I be better off using 4 attachments instead?

1
llPerplexionOP•

For what gun?

1
TennoInformant110•

Semi auto shotgun (it was a response to the strobe light nerf)

good stuff . this all makes sense. Nerfing the AR damage was not a good thing , this explains why i had a match last night that i had over 8k in damage but 33 kills. i would get players down to 2-4 health and they probably would of died pre patch. i played around 5 games of dom last night and noticed the increase in lag/stuttering and in the 5 games they best score streak that was called in was a CUAV. The map is just a trade session with all the nerfs .

The problem is every sweaty 12 year old on reddit , twitter etc complains about the things they don't like because they get killed by a certain gun or specialist , so they want it nerfed because they don't know how to counter it or in reality they just don't understand how to play COD and they are the kid that gets smoked because he is running up the middle of the map.

With the speed of the game it was just fine being a mostly AR game to slow it down just a touch. you shouldn't be running into run fights close range with a AR.

1
llPerplexionOP•

The lag stuttering is was what annoys me, I don't think Activision has upgraded their servers since ww2 as we had the same problem in that game

I'll never understand how you can shoot someones head 3 times and still not be dead
