[2519] Dragonbinder

Hey everybody!

Dragonbinder is my most recent snipping from my current WIP, Soulbind. In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a powerful mage on the hunt for an unknown enemy.

The goals of the chapter are to:

• Establish the history behind Silas, a powerful mage with a controversial past

• Expose the readers to some of the personality of Silas

• Establish the power of Silas

• Allude to the 2 main struggles Silas is facing

• Introduce a side character that people might find more agreeable than the protagonist

The magic described here might be more impactful to you if you read my other snippet first, but please don't feel obliged to do so. This chapter should be able to stand on its own without further context.

I feel like my weak points are in the strength of my prose and organizing my exposition, so I'd love to see feedback on those two points. However, I'm open to any criticism you feel fit to provide in order to improve as a writer. This is my first time really getting back into it in a few years and brushing off the rust isn't too easy!

Thanks for the feedback! I've gone ahead and revised this draft pretty significantly and I'll be throwing it up on here in a few days once the final touches are made.
