Hey, don't you think Let's Go kinda looks similar to Blue Dragon?

Discussion

I loved that game, you battled with your shadows, every party member had his own shadow monster that could do attacks and spells and shit, but the party members themselves had actions too. You kinda had to protect your party members while dealing damage to the enemies. It had awesome visuals (DBZ's artist IIRC), music (Nobuo Uematsu) and story and it has always somewhat reminded me of Pokemon. Also the most common enemies in the game were snakes made of poo and one of the toughest bosses in the game was a golden poo snake, need I say more?

I just posted the following in a comment on r/NintendoSwitch, and I thought maybe it'd be fun to have a general discussion about things the Pokemon franchise could add, perhaps inspired by this great game since it's now taking steps in that direction. Basically I just wanna gush about BD and fantasize about stealing features from it to incorporate into Pokemon.

I haven't played this pokemon yet, but it looks kinda like how Blue Dragon handles enemies on the map. In that game the worldmap works just like Let's Go, only some enemies engage on you when you get in range and there are bonuses for engaging an enemy from behind and stuff. You can also get multiple enemies in the fight at once by summoning a ring around you and have everything within it join the battle, they can then have synergy with or damage each other or even actively fight before they attack you, depending on their types. After a certain point in the game you learn magic that you can use on the worldmap and in dungeons to shield yourself from weak battles entirely, enemies you walk into that are lower level than you get vaporized instantly giving you some exp (or maybe the other stuff, I dunno, the game had multiple level systems and you had to grind battles for one, but could use this shield method for the other). It also had NG+ for however many times you wanted and grinding all your party members and their shadows (yes) to max level took at least two playthroughs.
Seeing videos of Let's Go, and reading discussions on it here makes me think Blue Dragon has a lot to offer that would be great for the Pokemon franchise. Imagine double battles in the wild by simply engaging two mons at once, or having your top slotted Charmander scorch everything in Viridian Forest with a fire shield when it's high enough level so you can run in straight lines, heck this passive mass murder could play a role in egg hatching and/or the daycare. Dungeons could keep the randoms encounters, but players can choose to overlevel so they can just run through while their strongest pet obliterates everything that comes near. And honestly, I think I would really like a NG+ in Pokemon as well. Not quite sure, but replaying the story and choosing the other thing at those times were you choose a thing could be neat, it's not like you still have to actually know the person you're trading with anymore anyway, so the whole you have to trade to get everything seems almost bureaucratic now.

I love blue Dragon. It's currently one of my most player games. And yea I can see what you mean with it reminding you of it.

Personally one of my favourite things in BD was the class system. Moving between the different classes and getting skills then transferring them over to a more powerful class. Doubt they could really implement anything like that though ha.

I mean, that specific mechanics is basically like Pokes evolving, right?
