thesmoking-man•

Wow giving up on 19 year old first round picks after 1 year for one and 20 games for the other is a bad idea? What great insight!

134
double22deuce•

Nah, it's too late for Knox, he should have at least been an all-star by now. I think it's time to pull the plug and go all in on John Wall.

53
thesmoking-man•

Lololol. Knicks draft Zion. He has a bad first game. Get rid of this guy, he’s overrated!!!

32
J_06•

Zion's gonna be Simmons without the passing. Calling it right now.

8
thesmoking-man•

Uh so let me guess. You don’t want him

7
m1a2c2kali•

unfortunately it seems like it still needs to be said for some knicks fans. Less so for Knox, but ive seen some depressing takes on ntilikina already

8
Jackovdajakoff•

And I’ve seen a lot of depressing performances from him.

5
m1a2c2kali•

And so have i, I don’t disagree that’s he’s been underwhelming but it doesn’t mean it’s over for him

3
thesmoking-man•

Between this and the Knicks declining Dotsons 1.5 million option for Durant’s 200 million contract, it really seems Berman is desperate for something to write. Maybe he saw what happened to Frank Asshola.

114
SnuggleMonster15•

I'm starting to despise sports writing

52
PrinceRobot_lV•

What he does isn't sports writing, it's TMZ shit because unfortunately it gets clicks.

15
jfortugno•

You said it man

3
Lazarus704•

Lmao Berman will write whatever just to get an article out... most of the noise around the Knicks is from him

22
firstbreathOOC•

Dot is a 24 year old sophomore who is still improving his game this season. He stopped a game ending shot against Giannis a week ago. He is locked into a contract where he is earning pennies this year and next. I have a lot of trouble understanding why the Knicks would be even remotely interested in moving him. Of course it makes sense to teams who want him. Why would it make sense to us?

8
thesmoking-man•

It doesn’t, that everyone’s point, that Berman is making shit up

6
johnhenryirons•

Some of these trade rumors seem to be coming from inside the Knicks org though...Begley also mentioned the Frank ones at least. He’s the most plugged in knicks beat reporter there is.

7
thesmoking-man•

They say teams are calling about players, that’s a big difference from on the trade block. Every team calls about players in the doghouse to try and steal them.

16
johnhenryirons•

But when those teams then refute those statements (which the Nets and Minnie have done) then you have to wonder where that news is coming from. The most logical explanation becomes that someone in the Knicks org is leaking trade rumors to try to drive up the asking price.

4
thesmoking-man•

You can’t refute that teams are calling you lol teams are always calling you. This particular instance is so stupid it doesn’t even require a denial. The Knicks are looking to build with cheap you players not trade them away, it’s just dumb

1
cardsyanks52•

I always think of it as he needs to get an article in every day for the Post. On slower days i don’t find it crazy to think he makes stories up or gets info from very weak sources and reports them

6
kondokite•

This is basically what it is. Probably getting shit on from higher up for not getting the clicks he got when Melo was fighting Phil and Drose was awol. The only thing that's left to do is make up ridiculous trade scenarios with big names attached

3
TheKidPresident•

Even worse isola is now with the athletic... i swear more than half of the knicks content on that site is written by him

3
NastySassyStuff•

Berman is sort of just a bad writer in general. His introductory sentences often make me cringe and he rarely formulates a thought-provoking sentence.

As far as basketball he comes off like a casual with a keyboard...for example Knox had 26 points against Milwaukee not 27 which is what he went ahead and published on a nationally digested news site. Seems small but how the hell do you AND your editor screw that up? Did you watch the game or even read the box score? It was the kid’s career high by a long shot.

Idk Berman sucks.

1
BToastOP•

Hill said the Magic gave up too soon on some of their youngsters — Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, Elfrid Payton

Yeah, let's not do the same

98
PorzingisDingus•

I feel like with Harris he was already good when they gave up on him. Not trying to disagree with you here at all but just saying it's interesting because I remember wanting Tobias back when Magic were gonna let him walk.

38
Nezn27•

He was good, but there was some questions about would he be worth the money he'd demand and maybe fit since most of their talent is in the frontcourt. He's certainly taken the next step in Detroit and now LA.

7
PorzingisDingus•

Nah I agree he was asking for too much - I wasn't mad about it after all was said and done but I did like him and his game, and that he was from NY.

5
huntzy•

I think positional fit is super overrated. Teams should consider how well players fit based on who they can defend and where and how there offense is generated. Boogie and AD are both centers, but seemed to work well as Boogie was able to create from the perimeter and AD could play inside. On the other side even though the Celtics don't have problems with positional fit, they have too many guys who want to do the same things.

2
Nezn27•

I agree and think that's where they ran into trouble. Tobias and AG sorta operate in the same area and do the same things, so they moved on to try and find a better fit.

1
zetiano•

Interesting that Scott Perry was part of the FO that gave up on some of those guys

3
kondokite•

As much as Im telling myself these are all click bait articles with no merit this kind of scares the shit out of me lol

3
AxhaICY•

Oladipo and Harris were so much better than Frank when the Magic gave up on them. They were both averaging over 15 ppg on good efficiency. Frank is averaging 5 on terrible efficiency. Not the same at all

3
Frontporch321•

From my perspective, age is a consideration too...how old was Oladipo when Orlando threw in the towel? Frank is still 20, Orlando traded Oladipo when he was 24 years old.

1
firstbreathOOC•

It's so true too. Sports writers seem to have a perfect memory when it comes to how they wrote off Oladipo especially.

2
Yuske_Rothko•

Berman is Reallllly trying to push a trade lol. "Celtics have some guards that would look great in orange and blue" lol relax man and just write your story

38
thesmoking-man•

You know, Golden State has some guards that would look great in a Knicks uniform lol

49
Yuske_Rothko•

Nice..found Bermans reddit acct!

5
thesmoking-man•

Lol

3
RiceOnTheRun•

Frank for that scrub wearing 35. Who says no???

2
guap_a_mole•

Berman

2
thesmoking-man•

“After his 27-point breakout game Saturday in the Milwaukee OT thriller” lol, he had 26 points, Berman can’t even get the info right

21
Shogun82•

Who the fuck is talking about giving up on Knox?????

17
ImmanuelJames•

This sub lol

5
TrillBarton•

Who the fuck is giving up on them? Knox has played like 20 games. Frank has had some criticism as of late for his offense but everyone knows we aren’t getting rid of him.

14
GorkySC2•

that is what they mean when they say NY and NY media is tough on you. only the strong minded survive. Knox showed that he is mentally strong, he could have been down and have terrible game, instead he went out in "i will show them" mindset... will see how Frank comes back after this criticism.

Why does this have to be posted almost every day in some form or another?

You either understand that development takes time (for some players) or not.

13
fandagan•

I wonder if the same idiots that are giving up on Frank and Knox are the same ones who wonder where Vonleh has been all these years. Vonleh was highly touted but very young and raw coming out of college. Sound familiar?

15
TOMtheCONSIGLIERE•

The best strategy is to develop these low risk, cheap, young players. It takes time to develop these players but the key to real long term success is:

  1. Build through the draft,
  2. Develop your talent, and
  3. Be smart in FA.
13
J_06•

Scott and Perry are going full moneyball, and it's working

1
TOMtheCONSIGLIERE•

And they fucked up, among other things, when they released Noah when they did. That was NOT a Billy move.

2
Primary_Sort•

And he was a #9 pick!

2
Jusuf_Nurkic•

But tbf for every Vonleh (who's developed into like an average player at best in 5ish years), there are a bunch of guys that completely bust out of the league. Not saying it will happen to Frank, but cherry picking examples is useless

2
Queensite95•

Giving up on Knox? Who said that? It's Frank we're worried about.

12
kondokite•

Both have been brought up/criticized.

Frank is also one of the youngest players in the league though so it's not all that different even if he has a season under his belt. Progress isn't linear and it's way too early to give up on him

8
Queensite95•

I'm not saying give up on Frank but like Knox already is putting up good numbers and was injured and is younger. Frank is like out of the consistent rotation and can't score. Obviously he's still young but after a year plus he's still having 0 point nights as a guard/forward

4†
brianxhopkins•

but like Knox already is putting up good numbers and was injured and is younger.

Knox is not putting up good numbers...

6
Queensite95•

he wasn't playing much post ankle sprain and was rusty since he got back. Last three games he's looked a lot better with his 3 pointer and driving.

3
cricket9818•

Frank has not played enough for us to judge him. Period. He's 20 years old and has 101 NBA game under his belt. When he's 23 and has had multiple full seasons of no improvement at all, then I'll say cut him loose.

1
rmccarthy10•

Exactly...

I feel like all of the Ntilikina fans create a narrative of "Don't give up on Ntilikina and Knox" so Frank's not out there on an island and the criticism of Frank becomes this overall issue with the impatience of Knicks fans.

But I'm with you..Knox has played like <20 games, and some of those post injury. Ntilikina has a year+ under his belt and although he's to young to give up on, I think it's safe we temper our offensive expectations of him.

8
bryanpool51•

Hill lookin like a snack tho

10
Lazarus704•

And you are right Mr. Hill

6
bdams19•

Lol who the fuck is giving up on our two young core players??

4
Weizenbock•

These articles bring back memories of Berman getting pissed at me because I told him he couldn't make it at the athletic

3
InfinityGauntlet-6•

Media calling out the media.

The fans haven’t given up on Knox or Frank.

2
RiceOnTheRun•

Based on this sub, you’d think otherwise ::

3
AlphakirA•

Grant Hill shouldn't ever be allowed to mention the Knicks.

2
KnickerPlz•

Lets get rid of them for a soon to be 30 Wall. Great idea, Dolans all aboard.

2
Jackovdajakoff•

Who is talking about giving up on Knox?

2
Mr_Jersey•

No shit.

1
PoppaB13•

What person who actually knows what they're talking about, thinks it'd be a good idea to 'give up' on those two?? Literally no one, unless they're trying to push click bait BS.

1
cricket9818•

I don't think the NY Post is a high enough quality source to be posted here. It's like reading a blog.

That said, Grant Hill is right. You only give up on guys that young when it is just downright obvious that there is no room for improvement. Neither player has shown an ounce of that and neither has had proper time to acclimate. They're 19 and 20 respectively, let's wait until they're legal to drink before we judge.
