Hey all, I took a trip to a community that I know absolutely nothing about this weekend and watched a bit of the Fortnite world cup. As I'm clicking around players and teams social media pages I'm struck by something immediately - the MTG scene doesn't market it's pros, nor do MTG teams market even themselves, anywhere near the level of these other games.

I can't speak to the profitability of this, but we can't buy a jersey from literally any of the top pro tour teams if we wanted to, ditto SCG teams. Channel Fireball is the only top team that sells apparel, and none of it is player branded. It's just the logo. Sure we know of the players that are on these pro tour teams, but do any of the

Hey all, I'm doing some midwinter weeding and stumbled across a first edition book from the 1900s that would be worth several hundred dollars (if it were in better condition of course). This particular item hasn't circulated in over 5 years so it definitely qualifies as one to weed but it feels like a bummer to just get rid of it.

Have you ever stumbled on anything like this hiding in your collection? Did you do anything with it? Kinda looking for advice and but equally looking for cool stories about rare or valuable treasures in your Libraries.

Hey all, so I was reading Moneyball this weekend and I thought about all of the data that my Library collects to report to the board. Program attendance, daily door count, circ numbers, all that good stuff. I started thinking about how this could potentially be valuable information, but frankly I can't decide what to do with it.

For example, if we knew that on Tuesdays we got on average 50 more visitors than Wednesdays, would we try to schedule more programs on Tuesdays? Or does it make more sense to try to do more on Wednesdays? Would we change the way we promote our programs in house on Tuesdays so that those 50 more people saw what we had going on? There are a million of these questions

So, after the 5th person this morning that's come and tried to yank open the locked door, ignoring the Library hours sign directly next to them, I figure it's time for me to ask all of you lovely people your ideas and thoughts on probably the most boring subject possible - signage.

I've been sort of experimenting with this for a few months now. Putting out lots of signs all over the place one week, taking a few away, even having none some weeks. I've found that more signs (even the ones as simple as Large Print, Libros en Espanol, etc) just all blend together and turn into noise leading our patrons to just kind of gloss over every single one of them. They defeat their purpose.

This probably gets asked every year, but I'm curious what you all are up to. We're not doing anything out of the ordinary - amnesty on overdue items, waiving replacement card fees, the usual. Anything super cool going on at your Library?

Hey r/libraries, I'm in charge of a pretty small collection in a relatively small Library system. Weeding was never really done before I got here and I've spent the better part of a year trying to update and refresh the collection, feels like I'll never really get ahead of all of it sometimes.

Our spending per capita is the lowest in the system and as a result we rely pretty heavily on other Libraries in the system to satisfy our patrons requests. It feels like almost on a daily basis one Library in particular in the system will send us an item in pretty rough shape that I wouldn't think twice about deleting and/or replacing. It's never the only item in the system so I'm able to cancel th
