The Mo Long counter Advent Calendar - Day 5
The team: Tractor Lumi Delphoi
Usable against: Mo Long Perna Triana
How it works: This is another Wind/Water team that is designed to combat Mo Long Perna Triana. As said before, the safest way to tackle this comp is to not bring any fire monsters. If you bring a fire monster, you always run the risk of Mo Long def breaking the fire monster which will allow Perna to kill it. If you don't bring any fire monsters, then Mo Long will target and def break water, but Perna will still prioritize your wind monster which will never get def broken. Without def break or atk buff, Perna should not be able to kill any tanky wind monster even with procs. Likewise, Mo Long on his own is not much of a threat to any tanky water monster.
Despite Tractor being a def based monster and having low HP, his passive prevents him from being def broken by Mo Long which gives him just the extra protection needed to tank Mo Long + Triana. Tractor takes advantage of vamp runes and Perna's paper-thin def to sustain himself and provide enough damage even without def buff or def break.
Lumi and Delphoi are extremely similar, both have cleanse, heal, and CD reset. Having multiple sources of heals and cleanses is very important in safely countering this team since all 3 enemy monsters can CC you. The biggest danger that you face is either getting chain CC'ed (which is combated by immunity and multiple sources of both heal and cleanse), or Mo Long S3 finishing off a weakened target. This is where the 2 sources of CD reset come into play - spamming them both on Mo Long is a good defensive measure to minimize the chances of that happening.
There really is no difference between 2 wind 1 water or 1 water 2 wind, in this specific case both Lumi and Tractor are adequate tanks for Mo Long so it's fine for Mo Long to have 2 possible targets. Did you know that Lumi actually has higher base HP than Mo?
Strategy: Note: sorry I was distracted during this fight and made a few (minor) mistakes. Defer to this written guide rather than what I did in the video.
Target Perna first. Your damage is low so Tractor won't be able to keep up with Perna's healing to kill anyone else first. Besides, Perna is great for keeping Tractor topped off on HP with vamp. Use your heals/cleanses liberally. Reset Perna, but spam the rest on Mo Long as he presents the biggest threat to you with his S2 and S3. Why not try to reset Triana? For one, she is often built with high res and it's hard to get enough acc on Delphoi or Lumi to reliably reset Triana. Second, her S2 CD is low anyway, and Tractor's multihits allows you to bypass Triana's passive without needing to reset it.
Another small detail is to avoid using Lumi and Delphoi S1 on the same target that Tractor is hitting (unless they have immunity up). Tractor's S1 only does 2 hits (versus 3 normally) when the target has a debuff, and both Lumi and Delphoi S1 carry a debuff.
Runing considerations:
Tractor - Vamp DD build. Both rev or destroy are viable offsets. Speed is not as important, his passive atb gain helps make up for low speed. It is important though to get some HP on him and not just stack only def. I would aim for at least +10k HP, this greatly improves his eHP and overall survivability.
Lumi - standard HP support build. Vio is preferred to cycle skills and give you a chance to proc out of stun but not required. Will is nice to have as an offset but not that big of a deal, I just went with stats. Some acc is needed to land CD reset, and res is a nice bonus.
Delphoi - almost exact same as Lumi, except it's fine to substitute HP for Def since you're only tanking Perna with her and not Mo Long. Also high res is even better on Delphoi than Lumi, since Perna typically won't be built with high acc and you can resist her stuns (whereas Mo Long will have high acc so res won't help Lumi resist Mo Long's debuffs).
Seriousness factor: 7/10. Wind/water teams against Mo Long Perna Triana are capable of 9 or even 10/10 ratings, but this specific comp obviously does not have the best possible monsters. I am mostly trying to showcase a team without any nat 5's that is still decently reliable. Despite this being a "weak" team, I would still put this on par with being just as good as some of the "best" counter teams that involve fire monsters (even superstars like Harmonia).
