Aiming for a life of ease is a path to mediocrity
Careful, aiming for a life of ease is a path to mediocrity.
Those who achieve greatness in life don't achieve greatness by avoiding challenges, they achieve greatness by developing the strength, attitude, and discipline necessary to overcome them.
And more important than being a finisher simply to be a finisher is knowing what your priorities are in life and whether the actions you're taking are getting you closer to what you desire or pushing you further away.
While it's good to honor your commitments and do what you say you will do, it can also be self-defeating if you are not flexible and fail to stop yourself from doing something that isn't working for you.
It's ok to stop yourself from proceeding down the path you're on if you do so for the right reasons. If the Titanic was able to correct its course quicker it wouldn't have hit that iceberg.
Quitting something you know is good for you because the process is difficult isn't a good reason to quit. Quitting because there may be a better way to do what we're doing can be (but only if it makes sense based on your progress and the results you're getting). It's important to recognize the difference and to not spend your life seeking shortcuts.
If you make a habit of always seeking the easy way, you will fail to develop the strength, resilience, or tenacity to deal with things when difficult is the only option.
Also keep in mind, that it's better to learn to recognize the value in challenging yourself and overcoming obstacles than it is to seek an easy life and try to avoid them. Because no matter where you are in life, and no matter what level of success you achieve, the challenges keep coming (but so do the rewards for overcoming them).
Don't seek an easy life. Seek to develop the strength, discipline, and attitude necessary to deal with a hard one -- and when you can do that, life actually seems easier. But not because it isn't challenging, but because you have the confidence, strength, and mental discipline necessary to overcome any obstacle on your journey.

It's great advice, thanks.
