27 Year Anniversary

27 years ago today the Detroit Lions won their last playoff game. I was -12 hours old when this happened. I've waited my whole life to see a playoff victory. Here's hoping next season will be the season.

I know I've felt this way in the past, but I think the Lions are close to being an actual team in the conversation. This season was bad. There is no sugar coating that fact. But I feel next season will be a good one. Hopefully the new OC we bring in will have some fresh ideas and we'll finally see a team with an adaptive playstyle that can change based on the situation and adjust to the game. No more of this cookie cutter bs where every single team knows exactly what plays we're about to run.

Stafford had a bad season this season too. He'll bounce back next season. As much as it sucks to say "it's a process" but it's true. It's just that our process has taken a little longer than every other team's process.

Someday... I will be happy. Someday we will win a playoff game. Then another and another till finally we are in a super bowl. Then we will win one, and I'll die. Happy.

My dad got to witness a cubs World Series win the year before he died.

If he can survive with all of his complications long enough to see it, we can too!

Glad he was able to see the Cubs win. My brother never got to see the Lions or the Leafs win but he was a true fan even in the end.

I'll be happy with a playoff win. I know asking for a home playoff game would be asking a lot but it's my birthday so I'm gonna ask for whatever I want! I want a superbowl dammit!

Early 90s Lions were the last heyday. Too bad the NFC was stacked with the 9ers, Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins who all fielded some all-time great teams back then. Favre was also drafted by the Falcons in '91, so there's that.

If I had known it would be twenty seven years before the Lions would win another playoff game, I would have savored that victory. But this was Herman Moore's rookie year, Barry in his prime, and Heisman-winner Andre Ware on our bench ..... Spielman and Ball on defense and Mel Gray as the returner.

They were good teams (division winners) and we expected to compete in the playoffs for a while....

That's the thing that has always confused me. We've had solid rosters and some good pieces but could just never find a way to tie everything together.

It was the QB. The Lions had Moore and Barry and that one good season of Germaine Crowell. But the QB was - Erik Kramer / Rodney Peete / some unspectacular folks. (Stafford with Moore, Crowell, and Barry would be a SB contender)

The Lions were good enough to win a not-strong NFC Norris a couple of times, but the NFC East and the 49ers were ridiculous teams. The 1991 Redskins team was maybe the best team ever, and they eventually gave way to the Cowboys with Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin. The 49ers had Young and Rice.
