I guess offensive guys get more love but give me Charles Matthews over Brazdeikis at this point if you’re going to include a Wolverine
I agree
Matthews has had quite a few games where he disappears on offense. Cant have that and expect to make the list
Iggy only has two games where he scored in single digits. Matthews has five games in single digits.
Iggy has Five 20pt games. Matthews has Four
Iggy shoots significantly higher FG, 3pt, and FT percentages
Both average the same amount of rebounds and blocks. Matthews averages 1 more steal than Iggy
But either way its great to have 3 guys like Poole, Matthews, and Iggy who can lead our team to a victory
Maybe Matthews has disappeared some times on offense, but he’s always leading the defense (fouls willing), which is our calling card right now. And he’s shown up big time offensively in our biggest games, outside of NW and Providence where he got in foul trouble early. That’s a sign of a big time player for me, I don’t really care if he only puts up 7 points against Binghamton if he’s putting up 19 at Nova.
Why isn’t Tre Jones on the list?
You basically have to score like 20 ppg to win the Wooden Award. Only 4 players in the history of the award have scored <18 ppg, the lowest being Anthony Davis at 14 ppg but he filled the stat sheet in other ways
He doesn't scores enough to merit serious consideration on this list. He's an incredible player, but he's not in the NPOY discussion. Now Defensive Player of the Year and Bob Cousy Award is another story. He's worth including in the short list for those.
You don’t think that someone on the ‘short list’ for Defensive Player of the Year Award and the ‘short list’ for the nation’s best point guard doesn’t ‘merit’ being on Wooden Award list? This is crazy to me.
Maybe because Tre Jones is only averaging 8 points per game lol. He's only eclipsed 10 points in 7/14 games
He's good and would probably have the stats to make the list if he played on any team not named Duke where Zion and Barrett absorb all the scoring
Where's Brandon Clarke? He's been getting buzz as a top 5-10 guy
As an Indiana fan, the fact that Romeo is on this list and not Juwan Morgan just goes to show ESPN has no idea what it’s talking about. He had the schools 2nd Triple Double EVER this year.
I honestly don’t understand why Hunter is on this list
I feel like Guy would have made more sense
Jerome as well.
