/r/Resident Evil Spoiler Policy
No one likes having surprises ruined for them, especially when we've been waiting as long as we have for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Many media subreddits have spoiler rules, and r/residentevil is no different. While we do have a spoiler rule, we're not as restrictive as other subreddits in that policy. We do have a flair system implemented to help make sure you don't see something you didn't want to, and we're going to start enforcing our spoiler rule much like we do the flair rule.
When you make a post about the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake, please tag it as a "SPOILER". Sometimes, people have titles that aren't quite as descriptive as they should be, and people can inadvertently click it, potentially spoiling the story for themselves.
On the other hand, sometimes people have spoilers right in the title of the post, which makes it almost impossible to avoid spoilers without completely avoiding the subreddit altogether. For example: "Steve's Death in Code Veronica" would be a bad title if Code Veronica fell within our spoilers policy. Instead use something like "A question about Steve in Code Veronica".
So I have written an Automod rule that will comment on all posts that may potentially contain a spoiler for Resident Evil 2 remake. Automod has limitations, so this won't be 100% perfect, but I didn't want to disrupt every post on the subreddit with a comment that might not be relevant.
You can cover spoilers in your comments by putting it between >! These characters. !< It will then look like this >!Spoiler Tag It!<
If you are having trouble setting a spoiler, you can respond to the Automod comment with "Spoiler!" and it will tag it for you. Remember, you can also easily flair your post in a variety of ways to help prevent accidental spoiling.
#If you notice someone has used a spoiler in the title or body of a post, please report them and they will be removed or tagged!
If you wish to avoid spoilers, assume all posts and comments within a post tagged SPOILER is ruining the game for you!
Now the next question that I'd like some feedback from the community. How long after Resident Evil 2 is released should we enforce this policy? I was personally thinking 1 month, but I am open to suggestions.
Now that 1-shot has been out for a few days, the filter for posts about the demo will be removed. Please make sure to keep the subreddit tidy by searching for similar posts before you make yours!

This is one of those rare times where spoilers don't bother me considering I already know what happens ha. Game did come out 20 years ago.
No you dont. They said multiple times that they've made significant changes to the story that will surprise hard-core re2 fans.
There are quite a few changes to the story, gameplay and map layout. Some have already leaked and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed and wish I hadn't spoiled myself.
Do avoid spoilers, then.
There will be a 2nd run Game option in the menu. When you click on it after finishing the story a message will show up telling you that the endings will change for both campaigns and that some changes have been made to gameplay.
