How to Set Flair on /r/residentevil

Some users are still having trouble setting flair, so I will go over a few ways to do that.

What is flair and why does r/residentevil use it?

Flair is a little tag next to the post, that identifies what that post is about. On r/residentevil, we have several different types of flairs. We have one for each main game, for each type of side game (outbreak, revelations and chronicles) one for memes, discussions, lore, streams, merchandise and collections, videos and miscellaneous ones. On the sidebar, you can use the filters to filter out the things you want to see or don't want to see. Don't like the streams on the subreddit? You don't have to see them!

Setting Flair

There are several ways to set flair. If you link to a video on youtube or streamable, your post will automatically be set to "Video". If you link to Twitch, it will automatically be tagged "Let's Play/Stream".

When submitting, you can put brackets in your title, with the code relevant to that flair type. So for example, you post your awesome speedrun results for Resident Evil 1. Your post title could be "Check out my Speedrun! [RE1]." Your post will automatically be flaired as a Resident Evil 1 post!

Another automatic way to flair your post:

Once you submit, you can reply to your own post with the following comment.

> !Flair RE1

You must have two things for this comment. To activate it, you have to start the comment with "!Flair" followed by the flair code. If you spell flair incorrectly or if you don't have the exclamation point correct, it will not work. You also must have the proper flair code in. "RE1" will work, but "REmake" will not.

To manually set flair, there are a few buttons you need to press. If you are using the new reddit, you will need to select a flair before you submit. Below the post submission box, you need to click the "Flair" and select a flair. It won't let you post until you have done this!.

If you are using the old reddit site, after you submit, there will be options underneath your submission. Click the one labeled "Flair" and you will be able to select your flair options.

If you are using an app, you will need to look around for a button that says "Flair". For example, this is what it looks like in reddit is fun. Look around in your app of choice, it should be easily found after you submit and click on your post.
