They just refuse to face the current political reality. Obama was elected as a relatively unknown newcomer who promised "hope and change" and Trump was elected as a retarded outsider who railed against the establishment. The entire western world is voting for outsider candidates and bucking the system of slightly opposed neo-liberal parties trading the government between themselves. The obvious thing here to do is to nominate another neo-liberal who is seen as a maintainer of status quo. No way that could ever fail.

Liberals really dont care who is president. As long as it doesnt affect them personally they dont care and thats why they are able to make everything in life into a symbolic protest against sexism or transphobia or whatever. They'd rather be able to crow about the first WPOC presidential candidate (even though its already been done) and lose than actually see policies implemented that would help the people they claim to defend because such policies wont help them, they are already sitting pretty.
