How do I actually get enough resources to unlock shortcuts?
I'm a bit sick of fighting the first floor bosses, so I figured I'd go for the second floor shortcut so I can get straight into the actual action.
Thing is, I can't manage to get both three keys and 120 casings - I can do one or the other, but the tinker wants both at once in a single run and I can't manage to do it - I clear entire floors and the option just isn't available.
So how am I supposed to do this? Is there some underlying trick I need to know regarding how to get the most casings out of enemies or something? Is there an item I need? Because right now it seems entirely up to RNG, and it doesn't seem super probable either.
Edit: Did it. Guess I was just having about a 15-game-long streak of terrible luck.

Make sure you don't buy any keys unless you have enough casings that you'll still be over the amount you need, and don't buy any regular items at all. Clear all of the second floor before going back to the shortcut, you might have enough keys and coins by then.
Also, shortcuts are pretty worthless in this game. You miss the entire floor of loot before, so your chances of winning tend to be lower as you've got less gear and max health. I've only ever used shortcuts to try and grind specific things, like the >!High Dragunfire room.!<
I haven't been buying keys, but I haven't been able to get enough casings to drop regardless. It's incredibly irritating to spend nothing, kill everything, and still finish floor 2 with like 60 casings total.
