Good. Any parent dumb enough not to vaccinate their children should have to deal with the consequences of an outbreak too. That means staying at home, taking time off work or providing alternative daycare.

Don't risk exposing other vulnerable members of the population with a disease that was basically eradicated years ago because of your ignorant beliefs.

While they are home they can explain to their kids how the Earth is flat and the crystals they have will heal them. :s

My daughter volunteers with a sports for kids with disabilities program, and a number of them are immunocompromised. The program director had to issue special instructions to volunteers as to what conditions you have to meet to be allowed to come help.

You know how those kids who were playing with fireworks out by the gorge and started a massive forest fire, and how they were found liable for damages? I think the parents who opt their kids out of vaccinations (as opposed to not vaccinating on competent medical advice) should be liable for the costs of investigating and containing the outbreak. I have way more empathy for the impact the boys' bad decisions had on them and their family that I would for the antivaxxers where the parents would have to bear the burden of the cost of their own bad decisions.

What if a child dies after being exposed by these idiots, what's the going price on a kid these days? Granting it was sickly, but I'm not sure that qualifies for a discount...

the outbreak has affected two of the district’s schools — Lieser School, which houses independent and alternative learning programs such as home school connection programs, and Eisenhower Elementary School.

..oh look, an unsurprising intersection between antivaxxination wackjobs and homeschoolers.

What happens if the outbreaks aren't from religious people but from the ultra holistic health hippies or the children of illegal immigrants?

Then the homeschooled christians will have someone to evangelize to when they're all in the same camp.

It doesn't matter. What matters is who isn't vaccinated, and how they can be persuaded to change their mind and do the right thing.
