Moving from G502 to GPW, inconsistency issues

Help

I read a lot about how using a lighter mouse can be very beneficial for aim in FPS games (in fact it was only through using this sub that I found out how heavy the G502 actually was). So after a few weeks of trying different shapes, I ended up going for the G Pro Wireless. The 80g feels amazing for moving the mouse around. It's so much easier to make swift turns and quick adjustments with it. But I also feel like my aim has somewhat suffered as well. There are some days where I use the GPW and everything just clicks and feels seamless and I can play really well with it, but then there's other days (or even later that same day) where it just feels so sensitive and jittery that it's hard to keep it under control and steady. I constantly feel like I'm just going to overshoot my flicks and occasionally it feels difficult to keep it straight when tracking. I feel like my aim is more consistent with the G502 but after having experienced a lightweight mouse is, it can feel cumbersome making large turns and flicks with it. I already play on a fairly low sensitivity (43cm/360) and so I'm hesitant to bring it lower as I don't think I really have the space to do that. I want to make the permanent move to a lighter mouse but that inconsistency is frustrating. Any tips on controlling a lighter mouse?

One thing that may help you is lowering your polling rate, it will help get rid of the sensor picking up all those jittery, minute movements of the mouse.

For me personally 1000hz is far to jittery/ sensitive. I’ll typically use 500hz or even 250hz and it removes a lot of the over aiming and shaky ness.

People will say that it will cause delay going lower but you won’t notice it, we’re talking milliseconds here. And worst case if it doesn’t work for you, it can be changed back with a click. I use a GPW as well and love it, best mouse I’ve ever owned.

Edit: for reference the finalmice come default with 500hz and no factory method to change it, I think this is to help combat the jitter/ oversensitive feel of a lighter mouse.

It likely has to do with shape and how you're holding the mouse. Bear in mind that the rotation of the mouse in your hand will play a huge role in how it feels to aim. Make sure you are always holding the mouse in the same way. Because of the shape it is easy to turn the GPW in your hand and not realise it.

it will take time to adapt, you probably spent a lot with g502 to train your muscle memory.

I had the same problem moving to the gpw. Even know it felt so good in my hand, it felt was like my palm was always moving it. Started using it in wired mode brought some stability, but then I found out my cursor would actually move on its own even when there was no physical movement. Not saying that's your issue, but its something to look for. I found myself constantly readjusting my cursor as I thought I was just over/under aiming.
