...can be an oldie that you've just discovered or even a re-read.
Mine: The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Edit: And the worst book I've read this year is Superfreakonomics by Levitt and Dubner - one of the most patronising and self congratulatory books I have read in a long time!

You inspired me to get the Black Swan! I hope it is worth it!
:) awww now I feel all glowy!
I do recommend it; It's a very insightful book by a very insightful man, however he does have the tendency to indulge himself (which may slightly annoy some people - but not me).
Outliers - it was a bad year in books
I get what you mean, but I thought on the whole it was a decent throwaway read (in a 'magazine on the plane' kinda way)? I find most of Gladwells books to be slightly obvious but perfectly digestable.
Great minds - I also call it "Airplane Lit"
Mr. Nice by Howard Marks
Very entertaining read, does that guy still do those speaking tours?
I would imagine if he's not doing it now, he will be soon. There's a movie of the book coming out in February.
One Second After by William R. Forstchen
It's a toss up between Dexter by Design by Jeff Lindsay or Where Men Win Glory- the Odyssey of Pat Tillman by Jon Krakauer.
Mine's a real oldie.....A People's History of the United States - Howard Zinn.
Definitely an eye opener!
I'm finally reading Wicked and its girly, but I like it. I didn't think I was going to, but I do!
Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men are just as good.
The Histories or The Days are Just Packed
i didn't read many books this year, the best was Bad Science by Ben Goldacre, it was interesting and entertaining, and possibly changes the way you think when you read news items which begin with the words ''studies have shown that ...''
..added to reading list.
Non-Fiction: 48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene
Fiction: Excession - Iain M. Banks
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.
100 years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Sex, Drugs and Coco Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
I read all his nonfiction this year, enjoyed all of it.

The Eight by Katherine Neville.
Imperium by Robert Harris, it was an airport buy (the only thing that even looked interesting) and it was awesome!
Say what? Read this year?! Fuck! Why would you read this year anyway??
The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Great Book. I just finished The Border Trilogy.
Was working on the trilogy, just finished All The Pretty Horses, but then noticed that my local library FINALLY got Pygmy by Palahniuk, so picked that up instead....
