Is it possible to end up in an unwinnable state?

Discussion

With the knife now having a durability even when swinging it, is it actually possible to have an unwinnable save file I wonder, or is there always enough ammo lying around in a boss area.

Just a note, I'm not asking for advice, I know how the game goes having played most RE games. I was just wondering with this new change, was this ever addressed/talked about?

I think the adaptive difficulty throws you ammo if you are actually out of ways to harm a boss, at one point I had nothing and ammo popped up in a place I had already searched two times before I killed the boss, but I don’t know for sure.

Not going to lie, there was about a good hour of gameplay where I had all but 2 9mm bullets to my name at orange caution. Hell there was even a long stretch in the lab where I was just at Danger witty no healing, and then they threw a G fight at me.

The only way I think you could make this game unwinnable is if you are struggling to land ANY shots, or you’re intentionally not trying. So fret not, I think everyone will be fine.

In my experience, as long as you are actually making an effort to conserve ammo and supplies, you'll be fine, but yes, if you blow all of your ammo or if you get hit a lot, you'll probably be pretty screwed. Boss arenas have plenty of ammo lying around, so mostly I've found myself in the worst spots while exploring, and actually found boss fights to be a BREAK from the tension rather than a tension riser.

Well I'm currently almost out of ammo and I'm not finding any. I'm also in situations where I have to choose whether to shoot something or take damage pretty often. Maybe I've been wasting ammo but I can feel a situation coming on where I just don't have the resources to continue.

For most the game I always had at least 20-40 pistol bullets but never had more than 10 shotgun shells. I saved them for lickers and bosses though so it worked out in the end.

I think boss rooms have enough ammo in them to down the boss. I never noticed because I never went into a boss room with 0 ammo. But I did run out of ammo completely on the final boss got lucky with how the game ends though.

I can honestly say yes. I have to restart.

Thought you could kill Mr X. Unloaded almost my whole arsenal at him and have no ammo.

Steam forum is full of people that have to start over because they don't have enough ammo for a boss when they can't backtrack and they didn't do save rotation to prevent this.

hardcore mode is pissing me off a little bit.

I’ve maxed out the re remake and played every other resident evil game, but the fact that these zombies continue to sponge through 10 bullets to the head and not die is irritating.

Shooting for the legs is easier than hitting a head that sways violently back and forth. So the fact that headshots being completely irrelevant kills the mood.

Keeping your composure and making every shot counts is important in RE games, but honestly this is ridiculously unfair.
