Do you think there will be any relation to the upcoming Pixie race and Scholars' Fairies?

[Lore]

With the more we find out about the expansion, I find myself wondering if there will be any relation between the Pixies and our faithful Scholar companions.

Initially, there's a lot of parallels that can be drawn between them:

Both races share a similar profile, being diminutive, winged creatures.

The Queen of the Pixies is Titania, who is also known as the Queen of the Fairies in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The Pixies are noted to have a proficiency with magic, like our Fairies.

However, there are differences, too.

While they are both smaller, winged creatures, the Pixies are much more unkempt looking at first glance than the Fairies are - wing patterns, hair, and general garb differ.

Additionally, Pixies are listed as being mischievous, while most behavior we've seen from the Fairies is fairly reserved: being protective at most of their current or masters, not really extending out to pranks or general mischief.

The magic they're proficient in could also be different - while Fairies use restorative magic, the Pixies might utilize offensive magics instead.

Possibilities in my mind range from Pure Coincidence to Pixies being the original source of the Scholar's Fairies - in the lore book they're listed as "otherworldly creatures", and that they were summoned and bound to the soul stones we use now. Even if there's not a connection to their origins, I wonder if we'll find ourselves there as Scholars, potentially getting a new form for Lily or (finally) a Scholar-specific Egi-glamour for our pets.

This expansion can't come fast enough.

Pixies are corporeal beings, fairies are a aetheric constructs tied to soul crystals. They have nothing in common as far as we know.

Check the "Elementals" classification of creatures in the lore book.

Faeries are beings of pure aether (just like Egis) created by their "linked" Scholar.

maybe "inspired by" would be a better fit.

I think it could be totally possible early nymians based designs of faeries off of pixies.

Apparently, the Fae Language was part of 1.0 (According to one of my friends), but wasn't used/developed further until Sylphs (Strangely, when your fairies get fall damage applied to them (in rare cases) they can end up playing a sylph voice sound.)

Pixies were also in FFXI (Their models in 11 was what our elemental and eureka fairy models are.) They cast heals randomly on nearby players, and raised nearby players (if they weren't in battle.)

Lol what?

I literally never heard that, any easy to replicate case to get fall damage on the fairy?

It's hard, but usually when your fairy takes fall damage from trying to navigate down overhangs in particular, since the game doesn't know how AI works on multi-leveled areas, they will use their voice clip.

I find that Heavensward areas are particularly prone to causing fairies to take fall damage. If you're having a hard time, try getting your chocobo to take fall damage instead, usually if they do, the fairies can too. Keep in mind, fairy fall damage is a bit buggy, since fairies don't actually take damage, but will still play a clip as if they did take fall damage. It's really up to the servers.

Alright, thanks. I'll just give that some tries

if al mheg is on another plane then possibly. the problem is the different mythology fairies and sprites draw from. Titania is merely a queen. but eos and selene are goddesses of dusk and dawn. interestingly the god of the Sun is helios wich makes me wonder what exactly Ast is doing when casting it. on a side note does anyone remember the name of the fairy you follow in the 60-70 Ast questline?

If you meant the 60-79 SCH questline, her name is Lilac. I haven't done AST yet, so I don't know anything about AST questline

Warning: Giant conspiracy, probably wrong.

If Il Mheg is next to Gyr Abania, maybe their connected to the sylphs. I got not proof, but Slyphs are lightning and so is Gyr Abania. Maybe the Sylphs moved from GA to the Shroud. No Idea if the Fairies are connected considering that's all the way in Limsa, but we have the Sylphs in the Shroud so it's not too far away?

Bigger, probably more wrong conspiracy theory:

Il Mheg is the First Reflection's version of La Noscea and Pixies are their version of our faeries.
