[03/05/06] In the Mountain Valley

In the valley west of New Ibling, the Emberlen work producing fuel. Swathes of this forest’s trees were now gone, replaced with piles of dirt and stone. The trees lay within, slowly changing into charcoal. Without a supply of phlogiston, Ibling had more demand for fuel than ever before. What was once just a logging camp could now be considered a small town. This region was easily visible from the air; the dirt and stone a stark contrast from the green trees that were once here.

Khalkhatai airships scouting the area surrounded by glaciers and ice sheet spot this town and float down to get a better look at this activity, their ships wooden hulls becoming more and more visible until it's clear that it's a sailing ship suspended by a baloon only a hundred metres above the treeline.

Such a large object is quickly spotted by the townsfolk. The more prudent run for cover, while others simply stand and stare, either in awe or confusion. A group of 8 gathers, from their behaviour it appears they are soldiers. One points what seems to be a large metal pipe at the ship, and they shout something in their language.

A captain on the ship gets a large, white signalling flag and waves it towards the ground, yelling a non aggressive sounding phrase.

"Vūūkah! Vūūkah! Vūūkmide tunn ōgore!"

As he was waving the flag, the crew lassoed a tree as the ship was being brought down closer to the ground.

The soldiers lower their weapons slowly. The message seems to have been understood. He says something else, this time in a shout rather than a yell. The language sounds rather Germanic, but is not very similar to any known language.

As the ship gets closer, those aboard would get a better look at these people. They are humanoid, but anyone could clearly see that they are something else. Their skin is a pale grey, bordering on white. They each have two curved horns sprouting from their foreheads, with small spikes coming from the top. The horns shine a metallic copper colour in the light. None are wearing very much, at most shorts and a small cloak, despite the relative cold. Their exposed skin shows stony growths in some places.
