I thought I was being clever. The Chest of Sorrows begged to differ.

I was doing some solo sloopin and dug up a Chest of Sorrows. Managed his crying fit ok in route to the next island and there I loaded him into the rowboat and went ashore.

While digging up the next chest I look out to see mermaid vape. Got back to the rowboat all loot is there so I guess I learned today that the crying chest can sink your ship if you leave I on the rowboat even if it’s grounded on an island.

Me and the loot managed to get to an outpost Jack Sparrow style. My rowing fingers are sore.

If you see mermaid vape it's your mermaid. Other players mermaids will not have vape on your screen.

What happened to you is a current bug in the known issues of the last patch notes.

My crewmate put a chest of sorrows on the rowboat and took off to turn it in at another island, every time it cried it filled up the ship, no matter how far away he was until he sold it.

Thanks for the info. Next time off the boat and on the shore.

I was just playing with a rowboat attached and the chest didn’t fill up the brigantine at all when I left in the rowboat. Weird

Umm. As long as the rowboat isnt attached to the boat the COS wont fill your boat. Your boat sank/despawned for a different reason

False. It's a known bug that itll fill up even if detached! They are working on a fix!

Did not realize this. Thanks for the correction.
