Moved back to Australia from Germany, seeking a similar flour to type 1050

Hi all,

As title suggests I’ve just gotten back to Australia from Germany and am having trouble finding a similar flour to what I was using there.

It was type 1050. I’ve bought a wholemeal flour from woolies, but it’s much thicker and I’m having trouble with getting a starter going.

Any ideas or does anyone know the equivalent here?

Thanks

Maybe if you used wholemeal and seived it?

Btw strange you can't get a starter going with wholemeal flour. It should actually work better at getting the microflora going that white flour.

The starter will work, it’s just taking a lot longer than the 1050

I can't tell you they'll have specifically what you're after, but personally Ive found supermarket flour pretty underwhelming in general and now go to my local speciality store.

I know a good one in Perth if that's any help to you

Yeah thinking I’ll have to find a specialty store. The problem is I’m living in a regional town now and there isn’t much in the way of that. What’s your store called?

It is called "All About Bread"
