Help me repurpose this build!
So i'm sitting on a Digital Storm Velox PC which is not my primary personal device and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. It's got a boatload of great hardware but is a funky build. The CPU seems a bit imbalanced relative to the rest of the system. Curious what people think I should do with this, and if there's anything I missed besides the weak CPU on this build?
Thinking about upgrading the CPU/Mobo and keeping it? It is similar to the build that is my current device, but I switched to team AMD and am not looking back. My other build is mostly at parity in other ways -- different brand but already has 32gb 3000Mhz, it's a founders edition EVGA 1080 8gb instead of the MSI model, 970 evo in current build vs 960 evo in old build. I do have 2 free m.2 slots, only one of which I currently have plans to fill. I could pull one of the 960 evos into my new machine and leave the other as a boot drive to sell with?
Worth it to upgrade and sell it? Leave it as is and sell it?
Also wondering what the quality/reputation of this 1080 is, as I've learned there's quite a range. My other machine has a EVGA 1080 8gb Founders edition and I'm not sure which is better. Seems like the MSI has better cooling? Maybe I should sell the whole machine + my current GPU and get a 2080ti? :D
Did my best to match specs up to PCPartPicker, but the case, memory and liquid cooling are all Digital Storm custom (couldn't figure out if they matched something off the shelf), and I wasn't 100% sure which 3TB 7200rpm disk the Toshiba was, but I can't imagine this will have much impact on the rest of the machine.
