The Japan Channel is basically a guy who talks about and films things in Japan. There's everything from short clips of interesting products to long discussions about what to expect when dealing with life in the country.

The channel has been hit again and again by YouTube's bullshit and is slowly dying because of it. The latest is that comments have been disabled for all videos, making it impossible to talk about the contents, to share similar or different experiences, or leaving input. There is nothing stolen, nothing controversial, nothing illegal, nothing offensive to be seen among the 3800-ish videos that have been posted over the last ten years. Just a dude and his observations and experiences.

I've personally found the channel to be one of the most accurate and balanced when it comes to describing the realities of life in Japan. Having kids, working, discrimination, culture, buying and owning a house, relationships, dealing with banks, healthcare, there is something about everything and all subjects include both the foreigner's view as well as how the Japanese themselves see it. Losing this resource would be a very sad thing.

Is there any way to contact a real actual human at YouTube? Is there a way to put a stop to this automated insanity?

First thing that gets into the view is videos with websites' content. At least one video is just static image. Many thumbnails are stolen photos.

And as it's not possible to see comments hard to say what happened.

Relevant:

What thumbnails are stolen photos? How do you know that they are stolen? There have been zero copyright violations registered for the channel so how is this related to the disabled comments and demonetization?

Irrelevant:

Why would it matter if there is a webpage being shown when it's being discussed? Does it matter if a few (really, very very few) videos are static images where something is discussed?

EDIT: Not that it matters but the discussions have always centred around the topics of the videos and have been mostly civil. I think the channel owner has stated that he removes abusive comments when they appear (he reads all comments) but I've personally never seen anything even remotely offensive being said.

EDIT2: It has come to my attention that u/Rambalac has a YouTube channel that is somewhat similar to the one I posted about and that he might have some personal interest in the number of competing channels available to viewers.

Latest such video "Justice System & Death Penalty in Japan". Just because owner did not find stolen it does not mean anything.

it's irrelevant if page was discussed if video is nothing but someone's content.

Where is the relevance to what I asked? How does this connect to the fact that YouTube disables features and only gives automated responses?

it's irrelevant if page was discussed if video is nothing but someone's content.

Yes, which has never happened with this channel. The example video you give is 18 minutes of him driving around while talking about the topics mentioned in the title and no other content.

So the thumbnail is from somewhere else but how do you know he hasn't asked for permission to use it? YouTube has not given him any copyright warnings or strikes so how is it relevant?

It feels like you are trying to derail the topic.
