Celebrating My 150th WWII Naval Miniature Design

Ten months ago, I designed a 3D printable model of the South Dakota-class battleship as a way to refamiliarize myself with the 3D Design software in order to teach my younger brother how to use it. Once I was finished, I was so excited by the prospect of having a 3D printed fleet that I finially went out and bought a 3D printer and got to work.
Now, ten months later I just finished my 150th WWII-era naval miniature design. On top of the 150, there are 5 post-war designs and variants to some of the WWII designs. It is beyond exciting to see my armada grow.
This picture is sorted by date of completion, with variants to the core model placed above the row. A full list of the names and dates of completion can be found on this spreadsheet.
Here is an Imgur album with some additional pictures.
That's impressive however I don't understand the abbreviations for each nation except for the USA
My apologies.
USN - US Navy
IJN - Imperial Japanese Navy
RN - Royal Navy (Britain)
KM - Kriegsmarine (Germany)
MN - Marine Nationale (France)
RF - Red Fleet (USSR)
RM - Regina Marina (Italy)
I had to look up half of those myself, but I wanted to use proper abbreviations rather than arbitrarily shortening the country names.
Wow thanks for that speedy response
Wow so in 10 month's that's a design every 2 days!
My best month was August. I had the entire month off and I was also taking a break from playing World of Warships so I ended up doing 50 designs total that month!
Oh, World of Warships!
I just started again (after being in the closed beta 3 years ago and havent played since then; work and family kept me busy).
Having a hard time adjusting, so im reading a lot between fights, and already thought about printing my favourite ships just for fun.
And now to see that you already designed a lot, if not all of the ships i want!
Brilliant!
Thanks for your outstanding work!
The entire carrier rework is still shit. I stopped playing WoWS because of it.
What are you planning on doing with all of these!!? You could make such a cool model of a(multiple!) naval battle!
My original focus was to be able to play Axis and Allies Naval Miniatures: War at Sea. However, I'm not as focused on that anymore and am mostly just excited to have a pile of cool mini ships.
Recreating naval battles is an idea. I put together a photo of pearl harbor with the ships arranged relative to each other as they were, which was cool. I'm definitely looking to recreate other battles in the future and at the very least give others the opportunity to do so.
If you haven't already, you should look into Cruel Seas. It's a lot of fun and these would work great with maybe a little scale conversion.
Wait, were you the guy who posted one of these to the WoWS sub a few months ago?
Yes, I posted a tech tree arrangement there back when I had 80 models, about 50 of which were represented in the tech tree.
A1 through ZZZ999 has got to be a HIT.
Cool! Thanks for sharing the pics and info.
Looks like we might need a bigger Axis and Allies board...
This'll really spruce up my Battleship game
That going to be one crazy game of battleship.
Please someone make this a thing
There has to be a pun about your collection looking ship shape...😂😋
That's a good one!
Is this collection available online?
I sell most of the warships as digital files. I also have some free samples available along with all of the aircraft. They are all on CGTrader.
This is awesome!
Any interest in doing some stop motion of how any of the bigger naval battles played out? I know it would be a time vacuum but dangggggg you’ve got the tools.
Oh so much interest, so little time! I'm open to someone with more skill in video creation using my models for such a protect, or at least using them to illustrate a narration of the battle. That would be very cool.
Would love to be able to do a comparison of the forces of Taffy 3 at Leyte. Any Destroyer Escorts and Escort Carriers in your plans? Very nice collection.
Coincidentally I was recently asked by a client to focus on Leyte. Right now I have all of the ships that were present in the battle, including the Casablanca-class escort carriers (top row toward the right), except for the John C Butler destroyer escorts and the Agano and Oyodo class cruisers. All three of those are on the short list for design.
You totally screwed up the Yorktown. Can't believe you posted that!
;-)
Hey, what's wrong with the Yorktown? I think my Lexington might be a bit wide and I've been meaning to fix that (a lot of my earlier models need some tlc) but I am not aware of any problems with my Yorktown model.
I'm Joking and Jelly. You're collection is awesome!
Thank you so much! I thought you might be joking with that wink but I am very open to constructive criticism so if there was an issue I'd make note of it for adjustment.
No criticism here, the set is awesome!
Maybe I should get into this hobby...
I 100% endorse this line of thinking!
That's incredible. What design software did you use?
Thank you very much, I'm using Blender for the design.
You sunk my battle ship
G6?

Sweet! We use to have 1:1200 scale naval battles in a club I belonged to back in High School. Used the whole friggin' gym! These sizes we might just need a 4 car garage. Great work.
Thank you, this is what I really like about 1/1800 scale. Smaller than 1/1200 but better detail potential than 1/2400.

Where is benchy???
I think I'm going Benchy a favor by leaving her out of this. I think she'd be intimidated by all the guns!

Nonsense!
Epic game of battleship
Edit: added some words
Stl available? My neighbor's little kid is into ships big time but I can't find anything to the same scale group on thingiverse.
I sell most of the designs on CGTrader but I also make a selection available there for free as a sample and for people that are not as concerned about a specific ship and just want a few cool mini ships. I was going to put those free ones up on Thingiverse but I'm not a huge fan of their licensing agreement.
Make the free ones differ in length so we can make them to play sink ships with them... please make a board that fits them, this would be so frikin awesome! :D
Edit: i mean the free ones should be different sized ones when he makes them (so we could basically do this)
The board itself with the models fitting the board should, if he makes it like that, be sold as that is an awesome project and costed him many many hours. Sorry if the original message looks a bit wrong tho :'D
Are you asking for me to adjust my designs to be compatible with a game of classic battleship? That is something that I've been meaning to do eventually. Thank you for your suggestion.
Lul no problem. Seems like others didnt like the way i asked for it. But yeah you probably should make profit out of it tho. Good luck :)

Oh no not that way, sry if it is looking like that. I would pay for them tho. :D
