Looking for an additional hard drive
Hi all,
I built my PC in 2011 with a 1TB, 7200 RPM, 32MB cache Western Digital hard drive. Since then I have obviously filled that space considerably, and am now experiencing 100% disk usage very often. I am a full stack developer and often times find myself running web browsers, multiple IDE windows, etc. and I often get considerable loading times upon starting these programs coupled with 100% disk usage. Starting the same stack of programs on my stock Lenovo laptop is currently way faster than on my main workstation.
I have decided that it is finally time to upgrade by adding additional hard drives, but I haven't a single clue as to what to buy. I want to get something fast with 2TB+ of space. So far I have looked at the Seagate 2TB FireCuda SSHD which looks promising but I'm wondering if there's anything better out there. My primary concerns are speed and longevity.

Get an SSD.
You have no idea how huge of a difference an SSD makes.
Wow thanks for the quick reply. I have never installed an SSD and I hear they get slower from usage, how bad does it slow down?
They really dont slow down over time. Sure they do get slightly slower as the NAND wares down, but its by a very small amount.
And due to the fact that SSD are so damn fast, an SSD running "slow" is still going to be like 10x faster than a HDD.
Conventional HDD's slow down at a much faster and more dramatic rate.
A 2 year old SSD will lose about 3-5% of its performance, a 2 year old HDD will lose about 10-15% of its performance.
Thank you! Decision made
