Definitely the hardest daily. People don't block, they concede instead of chumping. Esper everywhere.

51
Khelgor•

This is the exact reason I make a pitiful white weenie deck and play the unranked game mode. Too many net deckers so I try to give people a chance to get the kill creature dailies.

1
paulibobo•

This and the one that requires you to attack are awful for me, since I like to play what I want to and don't go out of my way to make decks just so I can complete quests.

-1†
Frankomancer•

Is it really that horrible to just play a deck with creatures in it for you? I promise despite what some control players say you can make creature decks that have strategies involving more than swinging them all sideways every turn.

21
neubiiAUT•

ofc you can build decks that can do that, but still there are decks that just have no chance against esper cntrl cuz a wrath on turn 4 is almost a guarantee and even not multiple control spells remove most of every chance of getting your board to the winning size, the chance of winning against a control deck is so slim there is no way i spend another second in that match. No i will not watch you until you draw your teferi or whatever ult you got going in there. Time is way more valuable than watch you play 10 min for a boring ult you don't even enjoy. Control players play control because it is save. Comfortzone human being with no risk and no originallity. Playstyle: sit and wait what the opponent does, oh don't like it, counter. to much on the board, swipe, it is save, opp has no hand, time to start the ult which will go on for 10 min, until it is effective. please. brew a deck, with a nice combo and stop ruining the game by playing this boring stuff

6
Findable_PenChandra Torch of Defiance•

Honestly if the 4 mana wrath is the end all be all for you than you overextended into it. ALso just because you don't like control doesn't mean its not healthy for the game, and by the way you describe it screams "I am new and never played control in my life." Try it and your opinion might change, and who knows you just might like it.

2†
SnackrattusCharm Golgari•

We can play creature decks all we like but when most of our opponents are either monored burn or esper control, good luck get any to live long enough to turn sideways.

5
paulibobo•

Eh, lately I've been messing around with Niv Mizzet in a deck that's mostly instants and sorceries, and I also play a green/white deck that usually attacks with one big creature as opposed to many small ones, so it does kinda suck

0
swizzlewizzle•

Can’t wait till Teferi is gone

43
Moonthrower•

Same. My Esper was shit until I reluctantly started playing him.

Way too fucking good. Can't wait for him to fall out. Feel filthy every time he gets me a win.

TL;DR - even Teferi players hate teferi

25
swizzlewizzle•

Yea.. when he is played against me I simply feel like the game is over right there... +1 and tap 2 mana.. the only time I feel ok is if I happen to have the exact answer in-hand, though with all the thought erasures flying around these days... hand feels very fragile

1
BioSemanticsBirds•

I played an esper deck without Teferi for a five or so wins yesterday, and some asshole in Bo1 main-decked Unmoored Ego. He fucking named Teferi. Needless to say I spammed Nice! and Good Game! a few dozen times as any reasonable person would do. He conceded not long after.

-29
Moonthrower•

My esper list is a homebrew, so it's hilarious if they Unmoor my Teferi and lose to Kaya or, better yet, [[Azor, The Lawbringer]]

Easy to protect too if they can't cast instants or sorceries

3
Drunken_HRSquee, the Immortal•

I have 2 teferi, 2 Karn, and 2 tezzeret, along with with [[nezahal, primal tide]]. Teferi is nice but he’s rarely actually my game winner unless it counts when someone concedes as soon as he resolves.

If you count that [[absorb]] has won me even more games, even though they’re the only 4 counters I use in that deck.

actually this is pretty rude petty behavior...in my world you get muted after the first, as this person probably did. So you were probably spamming this petty and rude behavior to no one.

Fucking despise that card

Wilderness Reclamation made Teferi obsolete on Nexus "strategies". Sultai completely overtook Bant as the Nexus way to do "legalized cheating".

1
Kabyk•

you'll be waiting a while - we're getting a whole set of walkers, i'm positive there's going to be a replacement for him.

1
TopXKiller•

Every. Damn. Time.

35
Serafiniert•

Honestly the dailies that depend on your opponents deck are just dumb. You sit there and hope that you get a match up where you can complete the quest. On top of that the quests itself are as uninspired as a quest can be. "Play lands" Nothing exciting about that at all. Nothing to alter my strategy, to change my deck or game play. It just completes passively or doesn't.

8
tiagorpg•

decks without creatures are dumb, they just render half of your cards useless because they have no target, and the other half useless because they counter spell, the game need less generic counter anything spells, like creatures counter each other in multiple ways not just by having more damage

0
ntw3002•

I've only been playing for three months, What's a 'creature' I don't think I've seen that card

20
rpxCCG•

Creatures are a hand attack strategy that excel in taking instants with destroy/exile effects from your opponent's hands.

6

A creature is any card that has creature in their type line (the line just under the card art). Basically it's anything with power/toughness.

5
Crimson_Clouds•

I think this person is joking that he hasn't seen any non-Esper control deck in the 3 months he's been playing.

10
tiagorpg•

and i thought people were exaggerating then i decided playing the events, now this game feels disgusting, all the decks i built for ranked are useless and all the time i thought i would one day try the events was wasted, i guess i don't want gems

1
AnalogDanHarmlessOffering•

You should be re-rolling it for a 750 quest anyway.

This post was made by gold hoarders gang.

17
KaiminusFight•

Gold hoarder of the world, unite.

(Opening ten packs multiple times in a row is so satisfying.)

2
BloodygazeIzzet•

Had this problem a few weeks ago. Pretty sure Esper is a bigger percentage of the meta than the other decks combined, including mono red.

10
Kickassoo•

Such meta is very unhealthy. because one cancer deck totally destroys all midrange

12
RudeHeroOP•

it's pretty crazy, especially considering that you have to imagine aggro decks get through more matches per hour, so you should see them more often!

6
ForkrulCharm Jeskai•

It's really not. It's not even the biggest single deck I see when I play for 15 wins a day. I see more mono-red, mono-white and about as many sultai decks as I see Esper.

-1
[deleted]•

[deleted]

10

Yeah, my opponent has been on Esper in 100% of my games today.

8
Stargazer86•

It's okay. If it's not Esper, it'll be a creatureless Temur Reclamation deck.

7
ebEliminator•

Niv-Mizzets!

yeah, i used to be confused by that, too, but the 'F' can stand for whatever you want, usually 'feeling'

isn't it

tfw = that feel when

mfw = my face when

3
smashbro188•

And thats why i have specal decks for each quest i play on traditional unranked. 36 removal spells, 40 lands and some draw spells, mono white aggo, and Rg fireball combo.

3
quantumhovercraft•

How does that help when op has been playing against decks without creatures?

1
Zllsif•

Make a special deck with [[Dowsing Dagger]], [[Skilled Animator]] on Dowsing Dagger, [[Quasiduplicate]] it, then [[Fiery Cannonade]].

1
smashbro188•

Well when you see a creatureless control deck when playing the special quest decks you tend to concede the match to save time. Since its not ranked.

2
Utlanning17•

Are people questing in ranked? Almost every time I have a quest with colors outside of my investments I'll just take a starter deck into free play bo1. The meta is weirdly healthy, I'm not sure I had more than one of the same opponent over like, 6ish games.

3
RudeHeroOP•

Arena does a decent job of matching you against crappy decks if you bring a crappy deck

After taking this screenshot I switched to my garbage goblins deck and got crushed, but at least got a final creature kill

1
Utlanning17•

Armed with this knowledge, Arena becomes a whole new game about maximizing synergy and card value without touching too many rares

2
RudeHeroOP•

For sure! Google it a little- it checks to see how similar to the 'meta' decks yours is

1
Gnignert•

Esper Is a very good deck and wins the Mythic invitation, but play against them is one of the most frustrating thing that I've ever experienced on magic arena XD

3
KatieLG86•

All my games yesterday were Esper. It's so boring to play against for so long I just end up conceding. Doesn't help my ranks but at least I have fun when I finally find someone not playing that deck.

3
flashlitemanboy•

I know control is healthy for the meta and there is nothing wrong with playing control or playing the best deck (which right now is probably Esper Control), but man is it soul crushing to face off against Esper as like 60% of your matches, in both Bo1 and Bo3.

3
RudeHeroOP•

I had been playing for an unhealthy period of time, only to be surprised I still had one of my quests unfinished

On the plus side, my skill at the esper matchup has been increasing steadily!

2
Asto_Vidatu•

I reroll that shit every time, that and the "play lands" one. If it's going to take me 15 games to maybe finish one of those, what's the point? they should just be removed from the rotation IMO. Or the creature one should at least be "cast 15 creatures".

2
krimsonstudios•

Why?? You can stack more than 1 quest, not like it as to be finished quick. Play lands and play creatures are the best because you can play (almost) any deck you want and they stack well.

8
Asto_Vidatu•

I usually build up 3 quests and reroll any 500s until I'm full, but I'll reroll the kill creature and land ones first every time.

1
Drunken_HRSquee, the Immortal•

Play lands is inevitable though. It’s by far the easiest quest whatever you’re playing and whoever you’re against, unless you’re playing a 14 mountain rdw.

2
doublej42•

14? Sounds like to many. My deck has 6 land.

1
SpiritoftheSands•

Thats why i made a lands deck, can usually get that one done in about 3 games

1
do_you_even_loaft•

or you could just like play games

10
SpiritoftheSands•

Nah, its a really fun lands jank deck with [[sylvan awakaning]] and other big stompys as win cons white the rest is stuff to get lands on the field like [[growth spiral]]

1
do_you_even_loaft•

Ah I thought you meant literally 60 lands lol

I'm on the other side right now. Playing Esper with one creature and got the one to attack with 45 creatures. Yeah, that'll take a while.
