4x4 Off-road Community in Calgary?

I'm currently building out my first off-road camping vehicle and would like to take it to the Ghost PLUZ, and Waiparous areas. I'm a little nervous having never been to the area before (although I do have some offroad experience).

Is there a community or meet up groups for off roading out there? I'd like to meet some like people and maybe even have a guide for my first venture.

Make sure you follow the mclean or waiparous PLUZ rules and trail designations. Disobeying and destroying land not designated for 4x4 use is a quick and fast way to have those trails closed permanently for use. Maps are available online or at the info kiosks when you go.

Thank you for the heads up, I'm doing lots of research and preparation before I go. I've camped a lot and preservation is very important to me.

That’s great to hear. I’m an avid user of the PLUZ (dirt biker) and am a total supporter of mixed use spaces and believe we all can get along and share and use the spaces together. We just need to be respectful and clean when we do use them so that we can continue to use them indefinitely.

Join up on untitleds forums, and you should be able to find someone. I haven't been active there since I sold all of my extra parts for my Tacoma, but the people there were pretty good.

Funny, I was wondering this myself the other day.. I have a trail rated Cherokee and am interested in some 'off road' trails. I likely won't do anything crazy but I'd love to spend a day driving in the hills and having a lunch. I'd kindly ask to hijack this thread and am curious to know if anyone has any trail ideas. I'm down to go. I'll even buy a tow strap. :)
