Will SteamVR Skeletal Input ever be supported?

With the Valve Index controllers on the horizon, more and more games (Namely Boneworks and the rumored Valve titles) will probably start using Skeletal Input in some fashion down the line, but WMR controllers are the only PCVR controllers that don't support it. The Vive wands support it, the Touch controllers support it, and the Index controllers support it. It's been almost a year since SteamVR Skeletal Input came out- where is the support?

In the skeletal exemple scene of SteamVR 2.2 plugin in Unity, WMR controllers and Vive wands seem to share the exact same behaviour. I'm not sure but I guess they should also work the same as Vive wands, in games that support the SteamVR skeletal system ?

The gloves aren't showing up in the InteractionSystem scene, so I can only assume that WMR doesn't have Skeletal Input.

Excuse ignorance, but what is skeletal input?

SteamVR Skeletal Input creates hand poses based off of the controller's buttons and sensors. For example, pulling the trigger would move the game's index finger accordingly, moving your thumb on the trackpad would move the game's thumb accordingly, etc.

Oh ok, I've experienced that when trying the rift, makes sense. I think once when I first tried revive it my inputs where acting a bit like that on Oculus games.

Hi, any update on this? Would like to know!

No update so far. It seems like the best option for developers is going to be creating a hand pose system for your game then use leap motion, SteamVR Skeletal API, etc. to pipe in hand tracking and if no real solution is found, create poses based off of WMR inputs. Disappointing that we don't have an option. For now, you could use a fork of the SteamVR Leap Motion driver that does do full Skeletal Tracking. I do not have a link, but I saw it on r/vive_vr.

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully, I'm not working on something that will be potentially shipped, so I'm fine with the controllers. Just wanted to know! :)
