Apologies in advance for the endlessly repetitive question. More info inside.

Okay I am starting WoW up again, and its been a year not sure how things have changed economy wise, buuut as it turns out I gave all my shit away when I left, So I have decided I will start a new char, what I want to do is make a character great at making moolah, I was thinking hunter or rogue + dual gathering, seeing as the crafting profs can make a lot of money but you generally need to spend money to make it back, money in which I do not have.

Sooo what would you recommend, I don't mind crafting I guess... Thanks for bearing this annoying question once more, and for posting.

Mining tends to make more money in the lower levels then anything of the gathering skills. They all more or less even out when they hit northrend. The easily obtained materials are cheap and the rare ones are expensive. i.e. frost lotus, arctic furs and titanium.

Professions that make good money, that I can think are universal for the realms are enchanting and jewelcrafting. They both tend to be expensive to get going though. Alchemy tends to make good money as well if you go transmutation.

Note that anything below the top-level common gather is usually very pricy as well because almost no one gathers it and those that do often just throw it away. Things like Outland herbs/ores, Outland primals, Northrend cobalt, knothide leather, and in some cases some of the mid-to-high level Azeroth stuff as well. The trick is that there's usually a fairly limited market for it, so you can't simply flood the market -- it won't sell. But for small-scale profiteering, it works well.

Gold ore, silver ore and truesilver ore/bars usually sell for shit-tons as well, the former two because of their "smelting for mining points" property and also because they're rare as fuck, and the latter for both of those reasons plus the fact that you need a fair bit for armour/weaponsmithing later on.

I never really thought about selling the ores. When levelling my blacksmith I would just smelt it and sell the bars. Interesting...

feral druid with herbalism and mining.

i say feral druid because you have most of the tools of a rogue, but you can gather while in flight form, saving you literally minutes over the course of a farming session.

Can you mine if flight form now? Last I knew, which was several months ago now, you could skin and gather herbs, but not mine in flight form.

You could be right there, I switched to herb / alch so I can't test it.

Roll a bank alt and get them to a capital city. Loot everything. Whatever you don't use, send to the bank alt. When you have a stack of 5/10/20 of this thing, sell it on the AH. You'd be surprised how much money you can make from things you'd normally vendor or discard.

When you start making real money, send anything over 500g to your main. If you account ever got hacked, Blizz won't restore a toon below level 10 (which your bank alt will no doubt be).

Mining/Herbing imo...

Skinning is ok at later levels (profit wise), but I wish I had gone herb...

Mining made me about 500-1000 gold by the time I hit 70 (and this was just casually leveling it)

Do it like this. Make a rogue or something. Get to level 8. Run around outside Org farming boar meat for a couple hours. Sell it on the AH for small profits from people starting cooking. Repeat till you have 10g. Play the AH with small items to grow your little pile. Use bigger pile to grow your money with AH purchases/resales. Never need to go past level 20. >_>
