Should I drop JC/Mining and go Alch/herbalism?

Transmute mastery as an alchemist will make you much more money than JC. 4 raw gems are way easier to sell than 4 cut gems.
I'm personally a JC for the utility and I have an herb/alch alt. My roommate has 4 transmute masters and makes 500g a day in 10 minutes on transmutes only.
Keep mining and JC. You can buy pots, and lifeblood isn't that amazing later anyways.
Once you hit 80, definitely keep JC. But, alchemy might be better for making money, since you can craft epics gems. But right now, mining is still a really good way of making money, even at level 80. JC is very beneficial for your stats at level 80, since you can use some pretty OP gems.
This. You will likely sink more money in to your JC along the way, but it pays off at 80. The bonuses are great. I may even recommend mining up a much of mats at 80 and dropping mining for BS. A JC+BS is just amazing for bonuses and that is what my warrior is. Two extra sockets + 3 JC only gems.
Word. Good to know. I think the only real reason I was considering going herb/alch was for the ability to heal. A warrior with a HoT spell seems awesome to me. But, apparently the lifeblood ability isn't that great in the long run. So, I'll just keep my head down and level as fast as I can.
Flasks and potions are really cheap to buy. You will make more than enough to keep yourself supplied by selling off your mining and JC products. Plus the special gems you can cut for yourself with max JC are a HUGE help.
Lifeblood is nice at low levels, but weak when you hit 80. Especially as a warrior. You are going to have so much HP once you get some decent gear that lifeblood will be a waste of time to use. It really doesnt scale well at all. I play a druid tank (bear form unbuffed I have 44K HP) and lifeblood only heals about 4% over its duration.
I have five 80s, all except my first have been dual-gathering on my way to 80. If I had known anything about WoW's economy, my first would have been dual-gathering too.
You can always switch profs at 80, and the money you'll make by selling the skins, herbs, and ores you'll accumulate incidentally will more than pay for the new profession, and more often than not pay for everything else along the way, including mounts and gear.
My most recent 80 was a skinner/herbalist druid, and the eternal lifes, borean leather, and arctic furs he collected along the way resulted in four pieces of Ulduar/ToC crafted gear waiting for him as soon as he dinged. The remainders that I sold helped pay for cold weather and epic flying. Pretty convenient.
This, a hundred times this. Go skin/mining or even mining/herb if you're up for changing tracking spells while you travel. You'll make enough money to have your epic flying mount and icy flying at 77 so long as you use the auction house well.
