Trusted mechanics?
Good morning everyone! Would anybody know of a decent mechanic that they trust? I'm suddenly needing one for obvious reasons...

Drake garage.

shade tree - they've never failed me. what was fixed, stayed fixed.
Beckley’s (by the Vue apartments) did a nice job when I went there last week for a tranny flush. A little pricier but they do well (so I’ve heard).
2nd Beckleys. They specialize in foreign cars too, unlike some shops that dont work on VWs
Why I went! Lithia asks waaaay too much money. Beckleys handled my VW very well.
Ha, same! Fuck Lithia!
They asked 120 bucks to swap out two filters (air/pollen). Seriously like a 7 minute job. That place is fucking highway robbery.
Another vote for Beckley, great service and the only shop I trust to touch my Saab
Terry's Auto in West Des Moines has been getting my family's business forever. They're the only auto shop I've ever heard of where if they don't find anything wrong they'll tell you that and charge nothing! Blows my mind that they're that honest.
Bill's White Wall has been nothing short of amazing to me. Very honest and fair, as well as very reasonably priced. I would tell you to stay away from Midas, Jiffy Lube (for anything), and Earl's Tire - horrendous experiences (yes, experienceS) at Earls.
CPS in Grimes. They do work on ANYTHING you have, and they have always come through for me. AMSOIL products readily available, too (buy the oil, they change it for free). Cars, trucks, old / foreign cars, boats, forklifts, tractors... But they are busy.
If you’re on the west side, I’d recommend Willard Garage. $350 brake jobs, $45-$75 oil changes (includes giving the car a very good checkup, filling all fluids, etc.), $99 alignments...family owned. They’re really good people and only want to get the cars they work on back on the road without screwing over their customers. 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty on their work.
I'm a huge fan of Midtown. They are fair and will tell you what needs fixing and what can wait. I trust them with every job.

If you are up near Ankeny/Saylorville you should consider McCannic's Garage. They’ve always been very fair to me.
Scotts Automotive on the south side. Great work and trustworthy. On SE 14th
screw that place, they tried to charge me $1200 for pads and rotors, I drove away grinding and got it done for $200. I recomend army post autocare. only problem is the limited parking but for a fraction of the cost i think i can handle it.

Jonson and sons on 34th and Forest across from Jetheros. These guys have never failed me.
Mobile Super Service on E 6th and Scott. They basically charge at cost for parts and labor is reasonable. They guarantee their work for 1 year, as well. They also do aftermarket mods if you are interested in that, lol.
The first time I went there I had to have a lot of work done on my brakes (new pads/rotors/calipers on the front, new master cylinder, new calipers on the rear drum breaks), everywhere else was quoting me $1000 and up and it would take three weeks. These guys did it in two days for $500, and they did quality work as well.
Bills whitewalls Extremely honest been going there for over 20 years
When I was in Des Moines I used the garage just west of Merle Hay Mall next to the Long John Silvers. I cant remember the name but they always treated my ex and I well.
Higgins Auto Plaza?
That's it!
Whites automotive down by the fair grounds.
Beckley's. I was recommended to them by the Drake Garage when I had my VW cause Drake didn't have the correct tools to work on it. I've been at Beckley's ever since.
Also it's one of the few places in town that you'll just randomly see a Lamborghini Diablo VT on the wash bay lift.
All Pro ServiceCenter on SE 14th Street. Robby is a cool manager and Kerry is a great mechanic
Iowa Auto Repair saved me one weekend with a quick turn around a fraction of the other estimates.
Been going there exclusively for a few years now.

I always go to Tom Davis on the east side. He’s quick and honest. He’s even fixed my car for free a few times!
Seconded. Tom Davis is great! They've been very helpful.
