Highlight works weirldy
I've checked this sub for any related problems, but couldn't find any. Today kindle started highlighting words like this https://i.imgur.com/I61XBKp.jpg
Restarted it, but it didn't help.

I think Amazon quietly changed text selection from highlighting to underlining with a recent update.

Did they make it so that it no longer highlights automatically by just selecting? If so, I must update my Kindle! It added so much unintentional phrases to my clippings file and made it completely worthless.

Well, I already did! There's a comment by me in that thread. I hope Amazon listens to us.

This is just a quiet feature of the new update. They changed it so it refreshes faster and in my opinion, having that side indicator is very convenient to know what line you’re on since your finger gets in the way. Feels a lot less cumbersome and more swift to highlight now.

Jokes aside, I didn't get it at first as well, although new patch notes have been downloaded, but it finally appeared randomly like 5 days later

Mine has been doing this too! I thought it was just something with the book I’m reading which I got on loan from the library.

Mine started doing this about a week ago and IMHO it is so much better than the previous style. It feels so much smoother and much more responsive to my touch.
My Oasis 2 is like this too, but my 8 gen is not.
I installed the latest update on both.
