Areas near the bay where I can airbnb a cabin in the middle of nowhere?

I want to get away from my house/job for a bit and go write and record music somewhere. What places are driving-distance from the south bay and will be cheap and not too crowded this time of year?

More like 5 hours driving distance, but if you head up north toward Lassen and Plumas, lots of people have summer cabins/houses around the lakes in those area.

Try the Sierra Foothills near Placerville. It's not really a tourist destination so it shouldn't be too crowded and Placerville is kind of a dump so it ought to be pretty cheap.

Not OP, but I want to look into that. Last time we tried to get away from it all, we ended up in a suburban development in Mendocino. Yeah there are trees, but you can hear the neighbors talking in their hot tub. Gotta be someplace where the homes are a little more spread out.

depending how far you want to drive you have lots of options

Santa Cruz mountains, W Marin/Sonoma woods, Sierra Nevada foothills, Mendocino coast, Trinity Alps, Lower Cascadia

I doubt you're going to find them cheap however.

I am not sure how cheap you can find, but Monterey is my first preference when I need to escape
