Dropping TV service from Fios

I wondered if anybody has advice on the best way to move from Triple Play to a plan without TV. We currently have 100/100 internet, Extreme HD TV, and phone, but we've pretty much decided to ditch the TV service. (A driving factor is that our Tivo is on its last legs and we decided we didn't want to upgrade it or continue pay the annual charge on it.)

But the chat rep (bot?) basically told me any package without TV will be more than just a phone+internet package. (The best they could promise was moving us to the Custom TV package for $94/month with an autopay discount, we're currently at $134. That includes the $5 cablecard rental, which of course we can't drop because there'd still be a TV service on the plan.)

I have the number for the customer retention folks, but I haven't called them yet, I wanted to see what our best choice might be going forward. We are on a 2 year commitment that expires in about a week.

Get internet only and port your number to Ooma- it’s costs a few dollars a month because of taxes and fees. You’ll save way more if you go internet only vs internet and phone with Verizon.

Cancel the service, and then resign up online. You'll need to make a new USERID, but you can then use a promo.

Yet Fios posts don’t generate much response here.

Just trying to help OP.
