best export settings for obs // best import settings for vegas 14?

VEGAS 14 - RESOLVED!

recording gameplay at 720p now & 1080p later. i know youtube gonna crush it but i wanna know whats best.... i used 2 think of matroska as "flac but video" but idk anymore, also vegas dont accept it :thermometer: so idk. just whatever works. i dont know dog about video just audio. vegas 14 agn, win 10, intel core i7 6700 3.40ghz, amd raedon r9 360, pirated? its complicated and probably irrelevant.

edit: ive tried all obs presets for output. at indistinguishable preset. mkv & flv are not recognized formats. mov gave file could not be opened error. mp4 & ts crashed vegas pro. m3u8 was unrecognized. what now

  • 1. What version of Magix VEGAS Pro are you using? Version 13,14,15, or 16?

  • 2. What EXACT processor and graphics card do you have in your PC? 8th Gen i7, Ryzen 1800X, what is yours?

  • 3. What version of Windows are you running? Windows 7, 8, 10?

  • 4. Is it a pirated copy of VEGAS? It's okay if it is just abide by the rules so you don't get banned and also consider purchasing a legit copy when it goes on sale.

  • 5. Have you checked the FAQS or the TUTORIAL page in the WIKI? A lot of common questions are answered there

  • 6. Have you searching this subreddit for keywords pertaining to your issue? A lot of questions have been asked and answered that may help you fix your problem.

Upgrade to VEGAS Pro 15 is $25 at the moment. You can try upgrading, it might improve compatibility. Also, the upgrade will give you QSV Decode Acceleration for H.264.

Record to H.264 with OBS. Really there is no reason to get fancy and try these esoteric formats. Stick with the "standard."

Does AMD not have Game Capture Software in their driver/software package? I'd definitely consider that, unless you can use VCE Encoding with OBS.

i dont have the money on me rn. i was already recording in h.264, and i dont have capture software in my package. idk how vce works is it something U install or automatic idk

VCE is AMD's competitor to Intel QSV (Encoder) and Nvidia NVENC (Encoder).

It's their Hardware Encoder, for faster Rendering of H.264/HEVC and other related/compatible (with the encoder's capabilities) formats.

VEGAS Pro has no Decode or Encode Acceleration (unless you're on an ancient GPU, for Encode). It's an old, long out of support, version; and a lot of bugs have been fixed between the last patch for VP14 and the last patch for VP15.

VP16 is a meh upgrade over 15. VP15 is a borderline necessary upgrade over 14... Must be experienced to be believed.
