Reminiscing You...

Feedback Received!

It’s you and I

Our bodies shaped by the dull moonlight

There’s no one else around

For what you’re about to do requires no audience.

Just the smoke along my lips

My lips

You I let in

Amnesia filled your lungs,

Poison seeped into my tongue

My tongue

Give into one more sin

You grin slightly as you touch my skin

I can still feel how the tip of your nose would caress my cheek

Right before you’d kiss me

Ever so gently your right hand gradually made its way up to my neck

My neck

Chills started down my spine slowly

One by one,

and then all at once

I surrendered my body.

Make a wish

Left hand down by your waist

Its fingers intertwined with the trigger

You maliciously lifted your hand to my head

My head

Your right hand around my neck held on forcefully as you yelled:

“Do you love me?”

Your left fingers pushing harder,

For a moment you stared at me with lifeless eyes

For a moment you didn’t let go

For a moment I thought

Should I though?

I made a wish.

The thought lingered as the blood swam back to my head,

Regaining reality, I stared at the reflection in the mirror,

Examining the wine-tainted spots on my neck, contemplating all that was you

That was you.

Suddenly, I felt the tip of your nose softly on my cheek…

Wow. I've been here... This is a scene I've lived so often.

I have no feedback, but I'll say that I'm absolutely captivated. Thanks for sharing.

Woah. This really leaves a mark. I’m actually struggling to find anything to criticise. If anything, it could flow better, but apart from that I loved this.

I really liked the repetition of the parts of your body, it really grounds the poem in your own perspective rather than making it something that happened to a third party.

I also enjoy exploring your defiance with the thought “should I though” followed by your wish. What was your wish? What could you be desperately hoping for? It might seem like you wish you could find a way out or be free, but equally you seem to be affectionately bound to your abuser. Maybe you wished they simply wouldn’t treat you that way. Maybe it was something more sinister, like they would choke you to death? Maybe each and every one of those thoughts went through your head?

There is enough concrete detail and explanation to make the poem relatable and understandable, though the slight ambiguity keeps it interesting and keeps us asking questions.

Fantastic stuff. Your perspective is really interesting.

I really like this one. There is a strong feeling of emotion and the intensity of both longing and fear. I tend to be a very visual reader and this struck hard, envisioned as it was. I think you expressed this really well.

I love how this reads. And it really invokes my experience from a crazy relationship. If I could give one CC, it would be what that other person says, it flows a little strangely but I think that's a part of what makes it beautiful.

Bravo.

Excellent poem. People mentioned the flow but I believe some freedom of flow sometimes provide a greater experience for the reader specially in a emotionally poem, gives it a ride sensation

Perhaps my only CC would be about the "My lips...My tongue...My neck...My head", the problem isn't the repetition, which makes sense but the order, somehow like the unwritten rule of "ping pong", "tic tac", I think people unconsciously also follow a rule of order, we start on the lips and tongue, we go down the neck and for the human brain the next logical step would be for instance the chest and not to go up again

But like I said, congratulations

I feel my own internal battle of feelings towards a woman that scorned me in this piece. It’s a powerful image of a struggle between reason and desire. It takes a special person to think and write about this objectively, and I certainly think you’ve got it. The only thing I would change is my own life experiences that cause me to relate to your piece.

I don't think there's a best way when the topic is abusive relationships

I'm not grateful for being abused, but I am grateful for the person I am and each experience that made me who I've chosen to become. Scars and all.

Sorry, I was just trying to chastise the dude for making a sex joke about it. Scars are what make us human, and we all have our own to bear.
