I enjoy furiously banging my head against the wall until I win, will this be a problem for me (regarding dragonrot )

I started sekiro recently and got to lady butterfly. Long story short she handed my ass to me, that's when dragonrot started showing up. Normally in froms games I just furiously keep trying until I win. I'm a fairly slow learner but I am persistent, so I know I'll beat her eventually. The dragonrot thing made me spooked though, and I did something I normally barely ever do: I gave up on her and went somewhere else. Now my question is, will I be somehow majorly screwed if I die a metric crapton? Without spoiling too much, how much can I devastate my playthrough by dying a lot?

None.

Dragonrot is just a way for the game to punish you by halting NPC questlines. You really shouldn't care about it since you can cure it anytime, pretty easy. I'd even refrain from curing it until after you kill Mr. Lightning McQueen (Yes).

Dragonrot is nowhere near as severe as the game makes it seem at the beginning. Don't worry about it. It's not a big deal.

The dragonnrot mechanic is stupid in my opinion as it seems half assed. After a while you realize the punishment for having it is a joke. I wish it were more fleshed out than it seemed like it really penalized you. As of now it just ends up being shadow that would scare you as a child until you went up to see that all it is, was a shadow.

Glad for you. It definitely has a learning curve, but when it clicks...it’s really amazing.

Thank you so much for asking this, I’ve actually quit playing the game a while ago because I was too afraid to keep dying and ruin the whole story... Now I can go back to getting my ass kicked!

Dragon rot is almost quite literally useless.

It makes you feel bad but, no one can die from It.

Seriously it doesn’t do anything. Don’t trip.

Dragonrot barely does anything, nobody can even die from it. I think it was originally supposed to be more severe but From pussied out, which honestly was probably a smart move given how much casuals and journalists were bitching about the gake's difficulty as-is. In fact, very few of the NPC questlines even matter at all, they're mostly just there for flavor. Just don't use droplets until after you've beaten a boss and when you know you're far enough to advance an NPC's quest.

I really only needed to cure dragonrot after a couple of tough bosses id known i would die a lot to.

Thanks everyone! That's exactly what I needed to hear. I went into lady B once more knowing I could die as much as I needed. That seemed to have given me the confidence I needed because she went down in a few attempts this time.

I really like the game so far, just need to practice myself out of my more cautious souls style. So far it seems like an aggressive playstyle is the way to go in Sekiro.

Dragonrot just lowers chance of unseen aid and opens up new dialogue with infected characters. It’s not all that serious

The only significant effect dragonrot has is to induce rage when you lose to a boss for the umpteenth time and one or more new rot essence notifications pop up.
