Uhm, wait a minute...

With protocol 11, there won't be a transaction limit, it's an operation limit, and it's going to start out at 1000 ops/ledger, which is faaaaaaaar from 10k tps.

It's 1000 ops per transaction, 50 transactions per ledger.

Let's make it simple: whatever you think the black-box does now, it'll do 10x

Uhm. No.

"@here — to push things forward on the public network shift, I want to send out the following message to the email list and post publicly on our dashboard the coordination times. Any concerns with the following (sorry for potential loss of formatting and links)?

Hello Stellar Validators,

In following up to the proposed switch to Protocol 11 in the stellar.validators channel on Keybase, we'd like to propose the following for next Monday:

Upgrade the network protocol to Protocol 11 via a stellar-core HTTP Command: stellar-core http-command '/upgrades?mode=set&upgradetime=2019-06-03T16:00:00Z&protocolversion=11'

Based on the general consensus on stellar.validators, setting the max operations per ledger to be 1000 ops/ledger. Note that this uses the existing max tx/ledger field, which in Stellar Protocol 11 means max ops/ledger: stellar-core http-command '/upgrades?mode=set&upgradetime=2019-06-03T16:05:00Z&maxtxsize=1000' "

1000 ops per ledger.

Are you trolling or what? You can have ledgers that have 50 transactions with a single operation each, making that ledger process effectively 50 operations in, say, 5 seconds average. That's 10 tps.

The network capacity, where applicable, goes from 10 to 10k tps based on specific usage of the system.

You carry an "ecosystem developer" badge, you can probably spare a few extra words to argument your opinion than "uhm no".

What I can tell you from 18 months of inflation distribution is that once that upgrade goes through I can clear 20k payments within a single ledger in whatever time that ledger closes, and that's me throttling back to avoid causing network congestion.

Did you read the quote?

The transaction limit is getting removed, and all limits will be expressed in terms of operations. When we activate protocol 11, for the first five minutes, we will be limited to 50 operations per ledger before we can vote to increase it. The suggested level is 1000 operations per ledger.

Thanks for editing your response, if that's not a typo then they are just migrating the existing value to a new location, then you are right I didn't consider such a patch to require coordination, rather deprecation and delivery through the new core.

If so then nothing has changed (actually a downgrade?). I'll check what's what after the network upgrade.

There's still a limit on operations per transaction, but none on transactions per ledger.
