Memory speeds on the HP Envy x360 15z (AMD)

//Question

I read that the BIOS on the HP machines are locked down and don’t allow a lot of control, including hard locking the RAM speeds to 2400MHz, regardless what is in them. I was considering getting the Envy x360 15z with a Ryzen 7 3700U, then replacing the memory with 16GB of 3200MHz RAM from Crucial (or more from another vendor). Are the RAM speeds locked on these models?

Huh?

I had read that the BIOS’s had locked the memory speeds to a max of 2400MHz, so tossing in faster memory (to help with Infinity Fabric performance) wouldn’t do anything.

HP typically doesn't expose any sort of memory speed controls in their bios. So, whatever speed it ships with will likely be the max speed they support.

I have the current 2700u 15 2-in-1 (15m-cp0012dx) and I've been able to upgrade to 32gb of RAM, but only at 2400mhz.

That’s what I was expecting. Lenovo’s new T495 was supposed to support 2666MHz, but they don’t have the customizable options yet to get it above 2400.

Where did you get the memory from/what model? The ones from Crucial’s site only went to 16GB, as that’s the supported amount from HP.

I bought a set of corsair vengeance 2x16gb: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G26166W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Semi-related: Shouldn't have gone to see the price, only $150! I paid $215 6 months ago.
