Need a little help getting started!

Newbie Question

Hi everyone! I've been a bud & bong gal my whole life and I'm looking to make the jump to vapes & concentrates. Since I'm pretty new to this method (and frankly, the more I try to research here the more frazzled I get!) I'm looking for a vape/pen that is absolutely idiotproof. Something that's easy to load, use, clean, and maintain while being super discreet and portable.

A friend heard I was looking to get away from smoking and gave me her Kanger Subox mini but from what I gather I would have to modify the tank and regularly replace coils and stuff, so I'm wondering if that's worth my time and easy to do, or if there's a simpler approach that's better for a beginner.

Thanks!

EZ Sai. It does smell a bit but goes away quickly and is like 95% less offensive than weed smoke. https://youtu.be/Of5ulxCJp3o

Been considering this since I've seen so much love for it here. What's a reasonable price for it? Because I see it some places for like $60 and some places for over $150

$59.99 seems to going rate in the US. If it’s $150 it’s probably not the EZ Sai, most likely a different Sai kit. Just to be clear the Sai refers to the atomizer. There’s a number of batteries and and mods that will work with the Sai. The battery that comes with the EZ Sai kit will be beginner friendly.

Terp pen from boundless is idiot proof, and I'm not calling you that, I'm just saying it's small, amazing, and I haven't seen people saying anything but how its terrific for concentrates without the weirdness if constantly rebuilding and replacing.and setting temps.and resistence...its just you, dabbing some stuff and getting on with your good times or your day. Easy to replace coil if you're hard on it or if you're gentle on it, it should last a long time! So for portable get one since it's like 30 bucks with a 10 dollar replacement coil.

For larger appliance which also has an excellent reputation, I chose the Peaf from puffco and I only got talked I to spending that kinda cash off of listening to reviews and my local dispensary guy loved his...I'm a cheap skate but it was worth it.

Oh trust me, no offence taken! My boyfriend vapes to cut down on smoking and was trying to explain it to me and I went cross eyed. The ability to just load it, use it, and move on is important since that's already how I am with smoking. Thanks!

Im in the same boat as you, im wondering if someone can tell me is the Yocan Evolve XL a decent one to use and when vaping any concentrate, how bad is the smell if theres any? will the smell linger and spread throughout the house if i vape in a bedroom?

Wax still smells, just not quite the same as flower (not quite as pungent either). This is especially true for 'open air' vs prefilled cartridges.

People will know that you've been hitting wax device inside, especially if it's just in your room with the door closed or something like that. They'll open the door & it'll slap their nose right in the face.

The 'discreet indoor vaping setup' is a prefilled cartridge with a tiny battery like a kangertech evod & ghosting your hits.

Vaping has a distinct smell that is characteristically NOT weed smelly.

Coupled with how vaping is found among both nicotine and marijuana users the distinct smell doesn't really have the same connotations as weed smoke. If I had to describe it, it smells like flat Sprite.

So in public you can get away with it, but it's already illegal to vape indoors in most public places anyways so I just go out with the rest of the smokers when they need their fix, no one would know if I didn't say something.

I also think that vapor dissipates faster than smoke, does not linger, and doesn't taint the breath as harshly. If you do an oil pen you can also cut the wax with flavored, non-nicotine, e-juice to further obscure the smell.

Anything evolve works well. Tried the plus magneto xl are all viable options. That's what they're made for. Great for a beginner to intermediate smoker.

Boundless terp pen. By far the easiest to use

You can get disposable carts with buttonless pen batteries. The actual coil and everything is in the cartridge itself and it is designed to be tossed after emptying, not unlike Julls. The pen can tell when you are drawing on it and just powers on automatically.

T-Pen, Rhythm, and even Pax makes pods and pens that dispensaries fill on their end, so the selection is often what variations of wax they have in stock.

On top of that these carts may intend to be disposable but they are simple to open and refill. The details of refilling I'm still trying to stumble my way though, though.

The pen battery can cost as little as $10. I got the T-Pen go for $20. The carts vary in price, but generally cost 2x as much as just buying straight wax. For me a .5g cart is $54. I can get a g of the same exact wax from the same store for $60, but I don't have to do the work.

Edit: Everything I've said is still relatively relevant, but a few more minutes of research and I determined that just getting something like the Youcan Evolve Plus and just stuffing concentrate into is likely both easier and more cost effective.

Evolve plus is perfect. It’s cheap coils are readily available. If you hate it buy a dab rig as it’s the best way to enjoy concentrates. I’ve had a half dozen pens and think a nectar collector or small rig beats any pen I’ve ever used.
