[Call For Discussion][6WM Orig. Music Comp.] GOOD NEWS! Gary has officially authorized the creation of the 2nd annual 6WM Original Music Compilation. Click here for details if you'd like to contribute.
Last year Gary announced his edict to create a compilation of original music from the 6WM community. Many of you answered the call, and Gary was pleased. He now exhorts the 6WM community to please him again, and has charged his acolyte, u/KerleyB, to supervise the creation of a second album.
Ever faithful, the Kerl Burger has already proposed some great ideas for a concept album:
• Randomly Generated Genre Comp
Using the following link Genres!, each artist generates a made up music genre then interpretes how it would sound etc then creates music accordingly. Contributors can use their current artist name or create a new persona with a backstory.
• The Lost Soundscores of Section 3
Each contributor selects a film from the BBFC's list of videos nasties. Preferably from the lesser known section 2 or 3 lists and creates a piece that would be part of a forgotten or lost soundtrack or score from said film.
Then we compile all the tracks stating that these were all from the cutting floor of said films etc.
More info at wiki about the video nasties for those who don't like horror films or the weird and wonderful, check the section called the DPP list for further info.

• Bryn Jones : 20 year passed. Tribute compilation.
As I recently realised this year is the 20th anniversary of his passing.
This idea is quite self explanatory, create music influenced by Muslimgauze.
I feel if we even attempt to do it we should aim to have it released for his birthday on 17 June. [Guess it's getting too late for this deadline! -ed]
Alternatively this could just be a separate project if people want to do it or secondary one going on parallel to the main project.
• SixthWorld Pop
u/SecondHandEmotion's comment regarding 6WM "pop" music could be the basis for another concept album:
Shortly after stumbling across this sub I kept having a recurring thought: What songs normal people in normal music subs would find alarming and bizarre the denizens here would find sugary, kitschy, and quite catchy. I have since started referring to such music as SixthWorld Pop. Stuff that is admired as easy listening here, but not tolerated on other parts of Reddit. Yeah, it is a totally made up genre, but so many songs fit that catagory. For example... Róisín Murphy - Rama Lama (Bang Bang). Here the members wouldn't be afraid or startled by such a piece while members in other music subs would definitely have some WTF moments and quickly exit. I spent way too much time on that random genre generator this afternoon!
u/KerleyB added that it "could be interesting to either emulate what could be 6WM Pop or form our own 'genre' of pop that resides in our little world, possibly praising Gary."
• Hybrid/Free-Form
As there may not be enough interest in any one concept to create an entire album around it, u/teduh suggested that we could do them ALL and create a kind of segmented compilation, perhaps including an additional section for free-form submissions from people who just want to do their own thing.
We are now asking you to weigh in on these ideas, or contribute your own, and to get a head count for participation. We also need talented visual artists to contribute ideas for the album art. Please review Kerley's original post and continue the discussion here; we want your input and your willingness to participate so we can fulfill Gary's wishes, and soon, since you know what happens when Gary is made to wait.
