Treading through LOTRO
A while ago i was searching for a challenging game but somehow i got my satisfaction doing LOTRO by attracting multiple mobs, doing higher lvl quests and etc and the lore is just, cherry on the top.
So I am lvl 20 with my Hunter (of course) and i want to spend some money to the game to support it and obviously so i can have more fun. However, the money scheme in the game is horrendous, its like you need a qualification to understand when and what to buy.
I don't want to spend too much as i might not even play it till the end. I am a casual player so only play when off-work or during weekends. Upon searching the net, people have suggested to buy VIP subscription to get access to the permanent upgrades. Although, they are character bound unless you log into them, so the first thing that comes to one's mind is to decide how many characters you want. I usually like archer, healer/mage only so as long as i get access to most of the things in game for 2-3 accounts, i don't mind.
1st Question - Character slot
I am confused about character slots. Is it 5 or 3 slots you get through VIP sub? Also i heard you get to keep only some of the VIP character slots after subs expires?
I was thinking to buy everything that would give me character slots first i.e. some expansion packs and then buy VIP subs.
Then do the horse quest especially on 2-3 character and just log into any other extra characters for free permanent upgrades.
Obviously run through quest packs whenever throughout the subscription.
2nd Question - Expansion Packs
Can i buy like Mordor expansion pack and run through it as lvl 80 or something for some crazy challenge?
3rd Question - Quest Packs
I defo want to buy 1 month VIP subs and i know it gives you access to all quest packs in the game other than those in the expansion pack. However, the quests that you are underway do not disappear even after your subs expires. Is there a way to abuse this :P ?
I don't mind buying buying VIP subs again but i really am a casual player. Depending on my mood i may not play a game for weeks and studying + working is tough as it is.
4th Question - Other upgrades
Other than expansion packs and 1 month VIP sub, is there anything else that is very useful to purchase? I know that whilst doing the expansion packs and the free quests/quest packs will give me lotro points but would they be enough if lets say i did them all on 2-3 alts? I would prefer account wide upgrades if they exist.
OR is there a more efficient way to this approach instead of buying all 4 expansion packs and VIP subs asap i.e. wait for sales especially in november/december for expansion packs etc?
Lastly
This forum i found has interesting facts about 4 different subscription methods used by LOTRO, everyone must read the LONG comment, so useful!
