The amethyst
An amethyst
So beautiful
In shades of red
And in blue
Reflects
In the light
So vividly
And so true
It's true brilliance
Could make you ignite
Bask in the light
You violet delight

This is a very simple poem and appears to be a surface value piece. That being the case it needs to cause very strong images to the reader. I believe this could be a little stronger in that regard, but it certainly has imagery.
The first two stanzas are really one sentence on multiple lines, which I get causes some pauses and emphasizes the words. However the last stanza breaks this pattern by having two sentences in one stanza and I believe it would be stronger if you kept it to one. Also the abundance of "ight" sounds in the last stanza feels overwhelming and made me pause.
It also might be nice to have the final word rhyme with blue and true to keep with that pattern, but you may have chosen to not do that on purpose.
As a suggestion for the last stanza you could do something like:
It's true brilliance
Makes you Bask In the light
Of it's violet delight.
Thank you for sharing!
I like the simplicity but I couldn’t find any deeper meaning to this other than what I can read upfront. I like how you describe the purple of amethyst as shades of red and blue and that it shines true. I see the repetition of the word true both for it shining so maybe it’s so sort of revelation? I really don’t know and it’s kicking me because I really rather enjoy the language usage. Maybe Im trying to read too much into things but would appreciate knowing if there is something more that Im maybe missing. Very nice though and a poem getting you to think is the sign of a good poem in my opinion so good work! :)
You're on the right track about revelations! Blue and red are moods. Thanks for your comment.
Glad to hear I gleamed some part of the greater mystery anyway. Thanks for the clue!
For a description it definitely details the amethyst artfully and the flow is smooth. However, I would suggest adding a type of emotional connection to add depth to the poem and hook in more readers.
Only, amethysts are purple, not sort of red and blue. There's a type with yellow in it...
