When you sign up you also get $5 off your first energy bill (or $25 if you pick 100% wind energy). If you pick 100% wind energy I will also pay you $45, whereas if you pick 50% wind energy (recommended for long term lowest cost) I will pay you $25.
I can attest after using it for a year at 50% wind energy it has lowered my monthly energy bill. I do not know if it would have been lower had I chosen 100% wind, although it's possible.
