MFLB A/C Adapter

Hey Ents!

I remember once hearing something about the Magic Flight people coming out with an A/C adapter. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this turn of events.

My batteries after about 10-12 uses and recharges totally died. they last maybe 4 hits and then nothing. So I could really use it.

:O plugging my LB into the car charger would be AWESOME!

[3] Yeah, we need to come up with a 'battery plug' that fits in the MFLB that has a power button that only turns on when you press down on it. the adapter should be able to plug in to AC also a DC cigarette lighter adapter would be handy too.

I'm a DIY kind of guy and if someone would take some pics of the battery area with a ruler in shot (size of hole and contact points), I'll work up some plans to build an AC adapter and would be willing to mail it to said ent for testing.

Really? Yeah I can get you measurements. If you toss me a personal message or something (I heard you can do that on Reddit) I will do that, and test it.

I've considered this idea - please please keep us posted!

If those plans work I'm totally building one.

Just go buy a battery recharger that plugs into an A/C.

The recharging is what killed the batteries in the first place. Running them and then charging them over and over again.

Then what's the issue here? all rechargeable batteries do that. There is no avoiding it magically..

You could likely make one. Rechargable NiMH AA batteries put out 1.2v, so find a dc adapter that puts out that voltage or around there (max 1.6v or so). I bet the power doesn't even need to be too clean since it's just running a heating coil, not digital electronics.

Just be sure to let it cool down, I bet you could break one by using it continuously.

Here, I didn't find any hits on 1.2v dc adapters, but here is a guide to adding a voltage regulator to a higher voltage power supply (5v from USB anyone?):

The section is: "Adding an IC Regulator to a Wall Adapter or Battery"

Your batteries only lasted for 10-12 charges? Mine are still going strong after the last couple months.

Do you happen to be using a 15-minute charger? I heard those can kill batteries.

Edit: Straight from their website: "The provided batteries, if treated well (not overheated) can be expected to support 500 recharge cycles."

Nope, The 8 hour one that came with the kit. Did you run yours dead before you charged them again? Or what is your process may I ask?

Yep, I pretty much use them until they die, then recharge. For me, a battery lasts about one and a half bowls (3 bowls out of two batteries). I just make sure not to leave the battery in between hits. A bowl typically lasts 25 minutes for me.

It's possible that they're defective. They have a warranty: "Magic-Flight grants to all purchasers of the Launch Box a lifetime functional warranty for all Box units and provided accessories." So, it's possible to get new batteries for free, at least. E-mail for warrany: [email protected]

Thank you so much! I shall try that!

I don't see why you can't use normal rechargeable batts. Do normal batts not work?

Normal rechargeables work just fine. (just peel the plastic off the outside)

The included batteries are 2000mah but i've been using 2450mah ones and if anything I reckon they work better!

I think you can char the herb a bit too much with those though.

It is true, you just have to draw a bit faster to keep the temp down. I find they last a bit longer and reach proper vaping temperatures faster.

If they came out with one I would think about buying it.(MFLB & ac adapter)

It would be completely worth it.
