Unfair

Sleep, my baby sleep

because tomorrow comes like a bullet to your head

never quite fully awake

oh the weight of it will make you wish you were dead

weep, my baby weep

because emotions of any sort from you are rare

dragging yourself around

oh people seem to smile and laugh, without a care

oh how unfair.

Bleak, my baby bleak

Effexor's not effective, and i'm just as desperate as you

dullness in your eyes

you SSRI victim, we're stuck in a hopeless loop

days turn into weeks

weeks upon weeks, upon months and now over two years

basically already gone

your head filled with concrete, you're fucked up and nothing got spared

oh how unfair.

Honestly, I am kind of lost as to what the poem is really about.

However I'd like to just mention that I truly loved the rhyme scheme. I honestly don't read much poetry so I'm no expert whatsoever but I really didnt expect the alternation between a really short verse and a really long one.. I personally really love it.

I'm sorry if this is horrible feedback, I just wanna say the rhythm was nice!

Maybe Effexor wasn’t effective, but your poem is.

I love this, I honestly relate so much to this on so many levels, I'm glad somebody else gets it and how much it sucks. I've dealt with depression since the seventh grade and I've been on Prozac, Zoloft, and Effexor. Prozac made me want to commit, Zoloft made me numb, and Effexor..sort of worked? anyway, this is awesome, and you need to keep writing because you're incredible.

I am somewhat unsure of what exactly are you talking about in parts of the poem - and how it is described, I probably should be thankful it is so. Still, I believe I get the overall tone, and relate to it. Specifically, looking at other people, who (to us at least) appear to be without issue, and how our pain is so much greater than theirs - that it can't be anything else but unfair. And, it might as well be. That line alone, is what I personally relate to the most, although I could out the very first one as well. However, not about what it is supposed to mean exactly. That a bullet to the head is unexpected? Instantly lethal? Or maybe something else? In come context, it might not even be bad.

Also, I love the rhymes. Good job overall!
