Jobs in the Sacramento area

What are the best places to search for jobs in the region? Preferably administrative or event jobs full-time permanent, but obviously beggars can't be choosers.

Where I've looked so far:

UC Davis

State jobs

Indeed.com

Sac State

Where else do you look? Do you know of any temp agencies or job recruiters?

Thanks, and hopefully this can become a resource for others as well.

there's

https://www.enterprises.csus.edu/human-resources/ueijobs/ is a good one if you're a current student with little to no experience most jobs listed there are in the state, while you may work at the state with many of these jobs don't have the benefits of an actual state worker since you are being contracted through a 3rd party. Another thing to note is that many of the jobs listed are part time but depending on the company you work for they may later employ you full time.

UEI also posts a handful of full-time, benefited (non-student) positions.

You may be able to find a few interesting jobs looking at EdJoin.org. This is a job site used throughout the state to find education related jobs. You can filter results down to just the Sacramento area to find jobs that might be more relevant to you.

I also second LinkedIn.com. If you don't have a profile, create one and add your work history. Start following companies. Make connections with people in those companies. Sooner or later, you'll start seeing available jobs show up in your timeline. This is also a good way to connect to recruiters.

I don't know how it is for administrative and event jobs, but everyone I know has had a beyond ridiculous experience searching for jobs here. Myself included. Be prepared to walk into an interview and have them make you take tests that have nothing to do with the position, like remedial math and spelling for an IT position. Maybe a few tests where they have a series of random geometric shapes with a question asking you to select the one that fits the missing one in the pattern. Maybe go around in circles in an interview with someone who doesn't have a clue that Sac State is only one of 23 state universities in California. I've had this happen three times because my degree is from Fresno State. One of them was at the Dept of Water Resources who neither knew where Fresno is located or that it is one of California's largest cities. I used to think most people here were of at least of average intelligence. Not anymore. Maybe these places should get rid of the tests on geometric shapes and replace them with a test on California Geography.

You will probably get some calls where some business needs something random done right away and offers to pay you a flat rate of $25 on a 1099 if you drive an hour across the metro area to do it. Maybe a phone call from some business owner who complains he can't find ANYONE, but only wants to pay $14/hr for a job that should pay $25/hr, then goes on to complain that anyone should be able to live on $14 an hour in the Sacramento area.

Government: Sacramento city, country and California. Use their respective sites. Edjoin for school district jobs, los Rios/cause/ucdavis for post secondary. Craigslist is huge asking with indeed, Linkin, etc.

State jobs, where some departments want you to send in an electronic application AND mail a hardcopy because they can't afford the printer paper and toner expense.

I also just moved here and have been looking for work for months. I have gotten some jobs through Robert Half recruiting agency so they have been most helpful. I've also tried Ranstad and Blue Ribbon Personnel for agency's. As far as online sites, i have been getting a lot of action from Careerbuilder and Zip-recruiter but there are so many applicants on every job that its hard to even get face to face time with a lot of the places i've applied so the agencys have really helped.

UC Davis has Temporary Employment Services which can help you get experience with the university systems and can sometime become permanent jobs.

You mentioned state jobs already but I just want to let you know about r/castateworkers . It's a really helpful subreddit if you are serious about state work and there are positions for all levels of experience.
